BCS Watch: One for the money

There was some speculation that Florida, after beating Florida State on Saturday, could jump Georgia when the new BCS standings were released on Sunday. While this would seemingly be irrelevant in the long run, considering Georgia is one with a ticket to take on second-ranked Alabama in the SEC title game, it could have clouded perception a little bit.

And as it turned out, that almost happened. But it did not.

Georgia was still third in the latest BCS standings with a score of 0.8911. Florida was a whisper behind at No. 4 with a score of 0.8882. Small as that margin might be, it figures to be enough for the Bulldogs to know that Saturday's SEC title game against Alabama does mean what everyone thinks it does.

At the end of the day, Georgia is one of three teams believed to still be playing for the crystal football.

One of them, unbeaten Notre Dame, is already in the BCS title game after taking care of Southern Cal on Saturday night. The other, Alabama, will be on the opposing sideline at the Georgia Dome in what truly shapes up as a national semifinal for the right to meet the Fighting Irish for all the marbles.

Here's a look at how the BCS standings (VIEW THEM HERE) shake out with one enormous week to go. ...
