Georgia was able to find immediate offensive lineman depth when Coffeyville Community College prospect Mark Beard gave UGA a verbal commitment on Wednesday.
Beard, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect, had previously narrowed his list down to Georgia, Mississippi State and Arkansas before his UGA official this week.
“I felt at home at Georgia,” said Beard.
Originally from the Birmingham, Ala., area, Beard was previously recruited by Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend, who was on the staff at UAB at the time.
"Coach Friend played a good role in my deciding on Georgia," Beard said.
Already graduated, Beard can enroll at Georgia in January and will have three years to play three years.
Per Beard, he will enroll at UGA on Jan. 9 and will start out as an offensive tackle in Athens. He played left tackle at Coffeyville.
He is the 15th verbal commit for Georgia for the class of 2012 right now.
Beard has a rating of 87 on 247Sports, making him a three-star prospect.
