Coffee: Dogs in the community

UGA's athletics department is making this a special day for youngsters at one school.

According to UGA sports information, Mark Richt, Mark Fox, Andy Landers and selected players are headed to Hamilton E. Holmes Elementary School in East Point, Ga., for a series of presentations for students to take place this afternoon.

Wide receiver Chris Conley (pictured) is set to represent the football team, with Gerald Robinson and Jasmine James to represent the two basketball teams.

"Through these programs, we have the opportunity to impact the community and our schools by promoting education and college attendance," UGA executive associate athletics director Carla Williams said in a statement. "We also want the children to think about the University of Georgia as not only their University, but also as their first choice for college when that time comes."

ON THE AGENDA

After the East Point event, Richt and Fox are due in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday night for another UGA Day speaking event.

On the baseball field, Georgia visits Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. to round out the three-game season series between the clubs. The Dogs beat the Jackets 7-1 in Athens in March before losing 4-3 at Turner Field.
