Tony Parker

LITHONIA, Ga. -- Might UGA actually be able to pull a recruiting upset with one of the nation's top uncommitted 2012 basketball recruits?

We can only hope..He's the missing piece to the NCAA tourney and the upper echelon of the conference..

    • Land this kid and things could possibly turn around for Fox. If not, he'll have to coach up what he has in order to bring the wins, which will then hopefully bring the recruits.

It's really a catch.22 when you look at it.

    • If we can get Parker (huge longshot) that could really take this team to another level. I sure hope we can hit a grand slam.

    • Parker could be the low-post offensvie presence the Dawgs need. This season we've struggled in the half-court b/c our big men aren't creating offense and so there's been more pressure for the guards to score from outside, resulting in a very poor shooting percentage.

I imagine Dennis Felton recruited Trey Thompkins with the theme "Come here and you can be a superstar and turn this program around." That's exactly what happened in the short[term. Thompkins became a superstar as a soph and the next year single-handedly led the Dawgs to a 20-win season and a berth in the Big Dance.

Maybe this recruiting theme will persuade Parker. I could easily see him starting right away as a Dawg. BTW, I recall Trey being ranked exactly where Parder is at the #7 center in the country.

Also, Donte's progress in his first year as a starter (especially on defense) could help with Parker's recruitment.

    • I still there's no chance he comes to UGA. He's being recruited hard by every top level school around and Fox's track record isn't exactly stellar. I would do backflips if he shocked us and chose UGA, but if I was a betting man, I bet he ends up at Duke. It's a top 5 program & still driveable for family.

    • Gentry thank you 1,000 times over for picking up the phone and calling Parker to get info straight from the horse's mouth on his interest in UGA. I've been hearing fairly consistently over the past couple weeks that UGA is still a legit candidate in Parker's recruitment, but I personally found it difficult to believe. I couldn't be happer to still be in the race!

I hope this young man realizes how important he would be to the UGA program. He would single handedly put us on the map, and he'd forever endear himself to the Bulldawg Nation in the process! He would truly be a home town hero (not to mention super star) who would be the feature piece every time we took the court.

Thanks for the hoops recruiting info. I know there aren't many UGA hoops recruitniks, but I'm one of them and I greatly appreciate your efforts!!
