Jones cracks Heisman Top 10

So Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones did the awards circuit this past week without winning any hardware, and he was not among the three finalists as Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy in New York on Saturday night.

But that doesn't mean Jones didn't accomplish something with the Heisman results.

Jones was the first Georgia player in 14 years to finish in the top 10 of the Heisman voting, according to voting results reported by HeismanPundit.com.

Jones becomes only Georgia's fifth top-10 Heisman finisher since Herschel Walker won the Heisman Trophy in 1982. Jones has the best finish for any Bulldogs player since Champ Bailey was seventh in 1998, giving him the best Heisman showing of any player in the Mark Richt era at UGA.

In addition the Heisman vote, Jones was named a finalist this year for the Bednarik, Butkus, Lombardi and Nagurski awards, all of which went to Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.
