After a big run of recruiting commitments in the month of June, Georgia has now gotten started on July.
Lineman Kendall Baker of Marist (Ga.) High School announced for Georgia during a televised Wednesday ceremony on Atlanta's Fox 5. Baker chose UGA over Auburn, Florida State, Vanderbilt and others, becoming the Bulldogs' 12th commitment toward their 2014 class.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Baker could play offensive or defensive line in college.
"It's either or," Baker said on the broadcast. "I got recruited as a defensive lineman going to Georgia, but if they ask me to play offense, that's fine with me."
He said earlier this summer that Georgia was "set in stone at No. 1" on his list, and no other school was able to remove the Bulldogs since that point.
"It's like a pride thing," Baker said, "getting out there, playing for my home state. I've been here all my life. I was born and raised here, and now getting the chance to represent them feels good.
Baker is a four-star prospect and the No. 19 overall prospect in Georgia, according to the 247Composite rankings, which also list Baker as the No. 257 overall recruit in the nation for 2014.
He is a close friend of Tucker's Elisha Shaw, one of the nation's top DL prospects for 2014.
