Georgia Military College has always produced top junior college prospects and this 2013 edition of the Bulldogs from Milledgeville, Georgia will be no different.
On Tuesday 247Sports was on hand to watch spring football and check out the latest crop of BCS level talent during a full pad practice that was very spirited at times.
Head Coach Bert Williams thinks this year’s team can be special and has a chance to be as good with some young players they have coming in, plus the ones they already have on campus.
Here is a breakdown on their top current prospects we saw on Tuesday.
Adam Duckett - Nicknamed Big Country at 6-foot-8, 335 pounds, Duckett just got his first offer from Kentucky last week. Troy, Georgia, Florida State and others have recently expressed interest. He was a high school teammate of current UGA LB Ryne Rankin.
Akeem Judd - RB with early offers from Ole Miss, Cincinnati and Arizona State. He was very good in practice and shows a great burst when getting to the hole. He was 5-foot-11 and 216 pounds when measured and is already a 4-Star prospect on 247Sports. I look for his recruiting to take off once schools decide to take a junior college RB.
Davonte Lambert - No question the best prospect on this team. He means so much to them right now they are holding him back some in the spring to not take any chances. He has double digit offers from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and others early on. Expect his list to grow until he decides later this fall. Sounds like Georgia, Tennessee and Florida will be in it until the end.
JaKevin Jackson - LB with early offers and should get more with a good 6-foot-3, 225 pound frame. He will visit West Virginia this summer and likely others before he decides in the fall.
Joe Harris- Former South Carolina signee who was highly recruited coming out of high school, is still getting looks. Numbers are tight at South Carolina and it is looking like they are not going to take more than two offensive linemen in this class. Harris is a guard and could hear from other schools before he leaves GMC in December.
Jovon Robinson - Former Auburn signee just enrolled at GMC and so far is handling all the academics and military side of college. He is slowly working his way back on the football field and right now is on track to leave GMC in December. Recruiting should pick up for Robinson as the season goes on. He told 247 on Tuesday that Georgia recently contacted his position coach and expressed interest. He also said he wants to hear from Alabama.
Quintavious Knight - May have been the biggest surprise to me on Tuesday. Knight is a legit 6-foot CB with good frame and was physical during practice. He played high school at Grady in Atlanta with current UGA CB Damian Swann. Knight did not play his senior season, but had a good year last year and now has early offers from Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Cincinnati. He list will grow because he is part of the hot trend of longer CB’s right now in college football.
