Safety Connor Norman has been working with the second-string defense since the spring.
UGA coach Mark Richt has awarded football scholarships to seven former walk-on players for the upcoming school year.
Junior cornerback Luis Capella, redshirt freshman fullback Merritt Hall, junior wide receiver Rhett McGowan, sophomore safety Connor Norman and sophomore linebacker Kosta Vavlas each have been placed on scholarship for the first time, according to an announcement from UGA.
Scholarships have been renewed for former walk-ons Blake Sailors, a junior cornerback, and Brandon Harton, a junior running back. Each was honored prior to last season as well.
Hall is currently UGA's No. 1 fullback, while Norman is working as a second-string safety. Harton, McGowan, Sailors and Vavlas each played substantial roles in games last season, either on offense or special teams.
