David Perno has led UGA to a 15-6 start to the 2012 season.
Today isn't just the start of spring football practice at UGA. It also brings a big mid-week baseball game.
No. 18 Georgia (15-6) hosts No. 15 Georgia Tech (14-6) at 7:05 p.m. at Foley Field in a rivalry game to be televised by CSS. David Sosebee (1-0, 1.08 ERA) gets the start for the Diamond Dogs against Zane Evans (0-0, 4.97) of the Yellow Jackets.
This is first of three meetings between the sides this season, with the teams playing April 24 at Turner Field in Atlanta and May 9 at Georgia Tech.
Last season the Jackets won 15-6 in Athens and 5-3 in Atlanta. UGA snapped a five-game series losing streak with a 6-4 victory at Turner Field.
The Diamond Dogs are fresh off a series victory this past weekend against Tennessee to open SEC play.

*Junior SS Kyle Farmer (.337-2-15) leads the SEC with 12 doubles.
*Freshman LF Hunter Cole (.316-3-12) hit .600 (9-for-15) with 2 HRs and 6 RBI last week. In his SEC series debut, he batted a team-best .556 (5-for-9) with a HR, 2 RBI and 3 BB against the Vols.
*Freshman Nelson Ward (.314-0-8) had 5 RBI, going 4-for-13 last week in starts at CF and DH.
*Junior 3B Curt Powell leads the squad with a .368 average as he went 3-for-9 in the UT series.
*The Tech game will close out a stretch where Georgia played 20 of its first 21 games at home. Up next, Georgia heads to Vanderbilt (7-13, 0-3 SEC) who was swept by top-ranked Florida last weekend.
