Morning Coffee: Kickoffs at night

On a Monday where Georgia had what looms as potentially its biggest game in years set for a night kickoff, there was an interesting post by Jon Solomon of The Birmingham News on the trend in college football to now play the biggest games at night.

Solomon reports that 53 percent of the game's involving ranked teams began at 6 p.m. (Eastern) or later this past Saturday. He added that nine years ago, it was 32 percent in the fourth week of the season and five years ago, it was 37 percent.

The practice is clearly growing as networks compete for prime time viewing later in the day.

Take a look at Georgia, for example.

UGA has been in the nation's top 10 all season, and counting next week's South Carolina game, it will have played four of its first six games this season at night.

So I ask you ...
