LINK(S) OF THE DAY

Pay close attention to the working of this statement Wednesday by the ACC in regards to discussions about a future football playoff.

Per the ACC, commissoner John Swofford "said schools considered options for a four-team playoff model and expressed a 'strong preference' for one that would incorporate the bowls for at least the two semifinals _ if not also the championship game. He said the schools also would opt for a selection process that gives preference to conference champions."

Preference to conference champions? Sounds like a movement the SEC probably won't appreciate.

After all, if you're not going to pick the four best teams, why even start a playoff in the first place?
