Morning Coffee: UGA-Auburn moments

The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry enters its 116th overall meeting on Saturday with Georgia favored to win and even an overall series that stands a remarkably close 54-53-8 in Auburn's favor.

There is all kinds of history in this special series, including the recent past.

So for your Thursday Coffee, here's a look at some of the more memorable matchups between Georgia and Auburn in the past 20 years ...

1994: Georgia 23, Auburn 23
In a shocking result, Auburn's 20-game win streak was ended by a Georgia team that finished 6-4-1 and had lost 52-14 the previous week.

1996: Georgia 56, Auburn 49 (4OT)
A 5-6 UGA team pulled off a famous victory that introduced many SEC fans to the notion of overtime football. The Mike Bobo-led Bulldogs overcame a 21-point deficit and wound up edging the Tigers in a heartstopping game.

1999: Auburn 38, Georgia 21
In a game memorable to UGA for all the wrong reasons, an underdog Auburn team stunned the Bulldogs by building a 31-0 halftime lead and cruising for an upset win in Sanford Stadium.

2001: Auburn 24, Georgia 17
Time ran out on Mark Richt in his first game as Georgia's head coach against Auburn. Richt called a run play from the 1-yard line with 16 seconds left and time ran out before the Bulldogs could take another crack at the end zone.

2002: Georgia 24, Auburn 21
Few games hold a place in UGA history as substantial as this one, which was won which Michael Johnson caught a 19-yard touchdown on fourth down with 1:25 remaining. The victory clinched the SEC East for UGA and the ultimately the program's first conference title in two decades.

2004: Auburn 24, Georgia 6
Auburn got its home-field payback two years later, routing a talented Georgia team en route to its own SEC title and an unbeaten season.

2005: Auburn 31, Georgia 30
The Tigers gained 62 yards on a fourth-and-10 pass to set up a game-winning field goal, claiming a victory over the eventual SEC champion Bulldogs in a wild and thrilling showdown at Sanford Stadium.

2006: Georgia 37, Auburn 15
A four-loss UGA team went on the road and stunned fifth-ranked Auburn, which entered the game 9-1. Tra Battle intercepted three passes in the first half in the surprising win.

2007: Georgia 45, Auburn 20
In the original "Blackout" Game at Sanford Stadium, the 10th-ranked Bulldogs donned black jerseys and beat the No. 18 Tigers to continue a streak of seven consecutive wins to cap the season.
