Not a rousing endorsement for John Jenkins to be a 1st round NFL draft pick by Grantham.

But those types of things have to be earned. And Big John will have that opporunity this season.

I am optimistic for the big guy. If he keeps his motor running and stays injury free, I think he can get that 1st round nod. He can't take plays off, though. The film never lies. When he needs air, he needs to be honest with the coaches and get Geathers out there. His toughest matchups will probably be South Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky. If he can show strong there, that's the best film that the NFL will be able to find this season.

Context of it was Grantham was asked about a very high projection for Jenkins, and Grantham responded that he could see it. So it actually was a pretty rousing endorsement that way it came off in person. Like any coach, he was careful in how he expressed it, though.

“I evaluated defensive linemen in pro football for 11 years. I know what first-round picks look like, and I know what they can be."

How that pitch didn't work on Nkemdiche of Adams, I'll never know.
