Richt: 'Georgia is my home'

Mark Richt

AUBURN, Ala. – Even in the aftermath of a tough road loss, Georgia coach Mark Richt smiled when he got the question.

The Denver Post reported Saturday morning that Colorado is interested in Richt for its head coaching vacancy and that Georgia’s coach might be seeking a “change of scenery” after a tough season in Athens.

Richt’s response Saturday night, after a brief chuckle, was only four words.

“Georgia is my home,” he said.

UGA athletics director Greg McGarity said earlier Saturday that Colorado has not contacted him about permission to approach Richt.

Asked if he expected Richt to be Georgia’s coach next year, McGarity replied, “Sure I do.”

“I expect Mark to be with us for a while,” McGarity said.
