VIDEO: Gentry & Seth Show (11.12)

Seth and Gentry show

Georgia beat writer Seth Emerson of The Macon Telegraph joins Gentry Estes of Dawgs247 to recap the Auburn game, talk BCS standings, Georgia Southern and more.

  • Good show.

The challenge for Georgia is finding opportunities to fix the problem areas for the team.
Right now, Georgia is not a good pass-blocking team in obvious passing situations. 4 and even 3 man pass rushes have beaten guys on our OL when there were fresh legs collapsing in with no regard for our run game.

How do we work on that against Southern (or GT)? Ask Theus to false start twice on first down and go from there?

We've got to fix some of our drops in our passing game. Obviously, a drop here or there against Auburn or Ole Miss isn't an issue. But the LSU game last year showed us that some teams won't give you so many second chances. And we have to be sure-handed when those scoring opportunities and 1st down conversions are sitting there for the taking.

Defensively, I like what I'm seeing. But we still have given up big plays on 3rd and long to the ground game (sometimes barely getting the spot to get off the field). Getting off the field against Southern and GT will be a huge test... although their offensive styles may not translate into a championship game against Bama or our bowl opponent.

We're still a young team with a lot of growth opportunity the next two weeks. One of the challenges against these next 2 opponents will be making sure that we keep making strides in areas of need.
