  • Here's the statement from UGA ...

ATHENS-------- Three University of Georgia running backs have been
suspended for Saturday¹s game with New Mexico State for violation of team
policies according to UGA head coach Mark Richt.

Junior Carlton Thomas, freshman Isaiah Crowell, and redshirt
freshman Ken Malcome will serve one-game suspensions on Saturday.

³We have certain standards in all that we do and their actions do
not reflect the Georgia way,² said Richt. ³They will serve their
suspensions, learn a lesson and I¹m sure be better men for it.²

  • Question for the uga fanbase...

Should we be concerned that this is the second time that Crowell is being punished?

I understand that these violations are minor. But this is along the same path as Stephen Garcia.

Cause for concern? Or we won't see anymore suspensions from this freshman in the future?

Give him a break, he probably didn't know it was traceable until just recently.

  • yes, we should be concerned...I have been concerned for a while with his attitude and things. I know he his young, and we all make mistakes but the young man has a wonderful opportunity as well as these other players that some never get...I hope they don't waste it, but right now, some seem to not take it seriously...go dawgs

  • Would he get a break if his second suspension was Florida?

  • funny how mr missionary disciplines (insert joke here) his players. learn your lesson, but after we play the gators.

  • Go back to the land of no discipline cock fan. You guys have no moral ground to stand on talking about discipline...Gamecock football discliplined lol wow..if Spurrier would have modeled his disciplinary policies after Richt you guys would not have won an SEC game the last two years....you are too funny talking about discipline lol

No comparison with Stephen Garcia...the first incident was basically having an attitude with staff and this incident is something that alot of frosh players do at alot of schools.

Don't lose faith in IC just yet. He is basically a good kid....not the kind you find at FSU, Auburn, UT or in Cockland...he has stable parents, good role models around him (Jarvis, Drew and others),,,he needs to be pushed competitively and mature. If this keeps happening next year, then get concerned but I have a feeling that spring ball and conditioning with Mr. Keith Marshall and Joe T will help out tremendously.

A little. But most importantly watch what happens with the 2012 recruiting class at RB. If we get Marshall and Gurley this is going to take care of itself one way or the other.

Are you willing to go on record that Crowell has learned his lesson and won't be disciplined again at UGA?

It's a long off-season. And players find themselves with something that is in short supply right now... time.

2 strikes in a freshman season is a cause for concern from me.
Everyone makes mistakes. The concern comes from the possible repetitive nature.

    meansonny

  • Meansonny, I'm with you - this 2x suspension is not a good sign and reasonable cause for concern. IC has been given a tremendous support group from day one at UGA to help ensure his success and even with that, he's having problems. I hope he gets it together because his talent would be a tremendous waste if he can't stay the course.

I agree 100%. I love what IC brings to the table and i hope this is the wake up call he needs. However if (when) KM and Gurley (guys a stud too and i hope we get him) come to Athens then the issues will clear up. Competition breeds success.

I don't know where I said that IC has learned his lesson and wont be disciplined again.

All I am saying is that people need to chill out and wait this thing out another year. IC NEEDS to fight for his starting job and frankly has never been pushed since grade school. He has always been the man just like all the other top flight recruits. Let's wait and see what Keith Marshall adds to the equation and a little Joe T "tough love" in the spring does. IC has not experienced either yet.

Settle down people. The UFs, Bamas, LSUs, UTs, and elite programs of the world have the same kind of problems no matter who the head coach is.

    Spurrier = No Class

perhaps, but he would not cover up failed drug tests to gain a football game.

no, sorry, look at uga's police record the last several years including your athletic director

keep on whistling past the graveyard.

and spurrier does not go around pretending to be mother teresa like your fake missionary coach. just win that fla game to keep his job, enforce drug tests against wofford....hahahaha

just go back to your board man because your counter argument is lacking one thing: facts. South Carolina has been a national laughing stock for Spurrier's discipline policies and NCAA infractions. Quit embarrassing yourself.

I am not understanding the USC righteous indignation in this case. There is no evidence that UGA delayed the suspensions. There was also no evidene that USC delayed removing Garcia from the program until after Shaw had a good game.

Our police record? Do you really want to go down that road?

The idea that a South Carolina fan could be talking about suspensions or drugs is laughable
