"In accordance with his contractual obligation, Todd Grantham notified me Wednesday night of the New Orleans Saints' interest in interviewing him for the defensive coordinator position."

Well, let's hear the melt downs and the screw 'em posts. It's all we have heard anyway. I say just let it play out and we see if we have to look for a new coordinator. Even keel from this corner. If he stays for this season, great, but have an heir apparent at a beckon's call.

I see your point but this has been handled horribly.
Smart was considered for NFL jobs. He never said "I want to finish my career at Bama".
Why?
Because no one actually believes he will.
Difference is, no one stuck a mic in his face and made him say it.

Anyone else ever have reporters asking about it?
Its a sticky situation that I think Granthem has actually handles relatively well by not speaking about it.
Whatever he says would get blasted.

To me it is not a meltdown. We all know he is not going to be here forever and it is very apparent he wants to be in the NFL. My point is I think now is the time to go. He has done a great job of turning our mentality around. But this is going to continue to haunt us on the recruiting trail until this is solved. And my opinion is the only way it will be solved is when he is gone. Everyone know at some point he will be leaving.

No win situation for Uga. He either wants to be an NFL dc or college head coach.
By mcgarity releasing the information we've created a recruiting nightmare and makes it hard for him to come back.
