*** KCP on NBA after the game ...

  • "Right now, I'm not even -- it's not even on my mind right now. I'm just trying to stay focused on what I need to do to finish school right now."

  • Hope he checks out the status of John Jenkins, Travis Leslie and Trey Thompkins..
As good as he is, he needs to work on ball handling and creating his shot off the dribble.
Another year and he's probably a lottery pick..
Wish him the best, whatever decision he reaches.twocents

KCP offers way more to the NBA than Thompkins or Leslie and it is not close. I have no idea what our Nose Tackle from last year has anything to do with it.

SS, John Jenkins led the SEC in scoring the last two years while at Vandy..He now mans the end of the Hawks bench..Prolific jump shooter who can't create his own shot.
BTW-Thompkins was waived today and was only making 585,000..Leslie has been down to the D league as well..

Jenkins gets a ton of minutes for an NBA playoff team and is a multi millionaire. I ask you again....find something wrong with that.

Jenkins gets 13 minutes a game-More since Anthony Morrow was traded to Dallas..
He averages 5 points a game..He signed a two year contract for 2.4 Million-Factor in the Agents and IRS cuts and he might have made a million in 2 years..Not chump change, but not lifetime security..
As Jesse Outlar used to say,"If the NBA were running World War !!-Japan and Germany would have made the playoffs".
No disrespect, but KCP would be a lottery pick next year..

He could also come back and have a Lattimore injury....or better yet, a Shawn Livingston....when he is guaranteed to be a millionaire now. He would be foolish to come back to play for this coach. He's not going to get better playing for Mark Fox.

Really? Because that sounds pretty damn dense honestly. KCP is light years ahead of where he was in November. Nemi, Kenny Gaines, and Mann would disagree with you on the idea that Fox cant develop players. CMF isn't great, but it's tough to get someone better with the lack of fan and administrative support our basketball program has. also, our freshmen progressed more this year than Kentucky's. who the hell would have thought Fox would out coach and out develop Calipari in the same year? Not me. And about the injury, take out an insurance policy and he's fine.

This statement means that you, and others like you who say it, don't understand AAU and AAU kids....You have to play the game. RELATIONSHIPS, RELATIONSHIPS, RELATIONSHIPS, CONNECTIONS, AND RELATIONSHIPS.

No need to rehash the Korey McCray story....we all know how bad Fox butchered it....but the reality is, hire the right guy, you get the right kids, and that is INDEPENDENT of fan and admin support.

And guess what, get the right kids, and win, and the fans will be there. Not the other way around.

And don't give me the lack of Admin support....its crap. $42 million on bball facilities...and Fox makes Top 25 coach money. Where is this lack of support? Please elaborate on that nonsense.

P.S. KCPs improvement has nothing to do with Mark Fox.....that boring, anemic offense didn't make him a better player unless by that you mean it handcuffed him so bad that he had to learn how to score when everybody on the floor knew the other four players had no prayer to get their own shot and the offense never got an open guy an easy shot.

  • Fox's ceiling is 4th/5th in the SEC. 1st round exit tournament. His basement is last in the SEC.

The state of Georgia produced enough talent last year alone to have a top 5 team.

    Fox will never sniff that.

Exactly.....Fox has had four years....and ETERNITY in basketball. He has 3 of 4 years with a sub .500 record, and if KCP leaves, its going to be 4 of 5.

At any other school....you don't get that 5th year.....here I guess you get a pat on the back. A get em next year.

Mark Fox is stubborn and it will never change, therefore he will never win. And if it is true that the AD asked him to replace some of his assistants and he said no, then he is more ignorant than I might have first perhapsed.

He's definitely not guaranteed to be a millionaire based on current draft projections - he's well outside of the lottery picks. Probably a late first or early second rounder with more projections saying second round.

He'd be wise to come back. Career-ending injuries are pretty rare in basketball.

This I agree with 110%. Our AD is quickly becoming a joke - at Georgia we don't just reward mediocrity - we reward losing. From the admin on down, Athens is a dysfunctional place where excellence is not even on the to-do list.

Totally agree other than one thing - in some ways our administration has shown support but our administration is also dysfunctional and doesn't value winning and excellence. They've proven it over and over again. McGarity has been worse than a joke so far.

Dbd, great posts sir...plus one on all. I agree that KCP could greatly increase his stock by coming back....honestly, he could repeat as SEC POY and dive into the lottery......I just don't know if he sees the risk reward ratio like we do. Most of these guys don't......but I don't know him personally so I don't know who is in his ear.

And I think we agree that by any real basketball school standards, Fox doesn't deserve another year.......I'm guessing the fact that he s safe tells you our admins mentality when it comes to bball.
