Clear skies and very warm temperatures have greeted men's quarterfinal Sunday at the NCAA tennis championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
No. 1 seed Southern Cal is taking on No. 8 Duke right now in the stadium, while No. 4 UCLA is taking on No. 5 Ohio State at the McWhorter courts.
Second-seeded Georgia will face No. 7 Pepperdine at 4 p.m. (good crowd expected) in the stadium with No. 3 Virginia meeting No. 11 Stanford at the same time.
Winners advance to tomorrow's semifinals.
We'll be updating Georgia's match throughout, so stay tuned ...

Hey G, I like to think that I know a good bit about professional tennis, but I don't understand how the college scoring works. Like how are there 9 matches but it end in a 4-1 score? Care to give a brief explanation? TIA

The three doubles matches are eight-game pro sets that do not count on their own. Instead, whoever wins two of the three doubles matches clinches the doubles point and takes a 1-0 lead.
Then each of the six singles matches, best two-of-three sets, count one point. Once a team gets to a total of 4 points, the team match is over and all singles matches on court are stopped, so a 4-1 win means two singles matches are still on court that are not completed.

all doubles matches count as one point . if you win 2 out of three doubles matches you get 1 point. singles each match is 1 point. therefore you have seven total points available,so the first team to four wins. GO DAWGS!

As soon as Pepperdine breaks back to go 4-4 at no. 3, UGA gets a break to go up 5-3 at No. 2. Dogs are going to need both matches because their No. 1 doubles is getting spanked, down 6-1.

Dogs go meekly at No. 1, 8-1, and Waves' pair chest-bumps a victory on the court (fans not crazy about that).
UGA has to win both of the other doubles and leads 6-4 at No. 2. It is tied 4-4 at No. 3 and they're in the middle of a long game on Pepperdine's serve.
