Wanted to make you aware that our friend Chip Towers of the AJC has confirmed today (link) that UGA recruiting assistant Charles Cantor has resigned from his position.
First off, this was not terribly surprising. From our end, we've heard rumblings about this since the Mark Richt Camp. All the details are not totally clear, but we can tell you that a few sources have suggested along the way that the move may have been performance-related more than anything else.
While many fans will not recognize the name, this will be a significant -- albeit under-the-radar -- hire, given that Cantor served as a point man for contacting recruits, official visits, etc ...

Anyone wanna take a stab at what the hell Chip is referring to here:
UGA Athletic Director Greg McGarity, responding to a freedom of information request for details, declined to comment on speculation that Cantor was asked to leave because of his alleged involvement in NCAA violations.
NCAA violations?

not a big deal. rumor has been cc introduced recruits to herschel which is minor viol. thats not why he was fired tho

In all fairness, the UGA scout site is reporting this as the case. I would also agree that the staff change had to do with a lot more than any one incident.

Heard the same thing, allowed to leave under the "other opportunities" cover but was ultimately asked to leave. Good news is, the program continues to show signs of making changes where needed.
