    Thank you. Fair question:

This key here is that we are going to make it available to monthly members, we just can't with this release.

Secondly, and I don't mind saying this ... annual members are worth about 35% more to our business than a monthly member. I've been running churn/attrition analysis for more than 15 years and these numbers have held somewhat true. To be clear, from solely a biz perspective, its more about the average value of a customer -- annual vs. monthly.

I hope to mitigate this problem by setting up ways for monthly members to get this service. The problem is that our user rewrite is running 3-6 months behind schedule and those features will have to come out in our next text alerts release.

Hope this helps clarify our position better. Again, thank you so much for your support of 247Sports. We are really working hard to make this a great product for you guys.

Why not provide monthly users the option of trying the Text alerts on a trial basis? 7 or 30 day trial period to see if it's worth "upgrading" to an annual subscription. That should help paint a clearer picture as to the value of such a service.

While it seems a bit crazy - a decade ago, having an extra $10 a month was not as big of an issue as it is today. I'm blessed not to worry about needing an extra $10 a month but as others have stated - the reality is, we have members on this board that cannot afford to spring on the annual option.

I've been a big supporter of this network. I've brought friends and colleagues over here. I appreciate the candor on the matter.

That is a great idea, but it would require extra development time. We need to finish the rewrite of our user/reputation platform then adding logic like what you mentioned will be quick and easy. Right now, our efforts are toward the overall project and site optimization. It's not that we don't want to do these things, its that we can't right now -- need some time to roll out these options.

Our code platform is incredibly complicated. We've build the entire system and only 50% complete. One day processing these type requests will be much easier. Right now, we ... 247 .. have to be patient.

  • Glad i did,nt cancel my monthly subscription to RIVALS. I,m a monthly
subscriber and i do receive text alerts on scores and commited recruits. looks like you would be makeing more money on monthly subcriptions than annual . looks like if you pay for the service you should get it annual or monthly .

As for them only being available to annual subscribers, there's a layered cost associated with this service - for the actual service itself and for the development time it takes to implement and maintain.

By offering it to annual members we don't have to pass that cost along. Its also the way we did it at our former network.

Its just hard to make the economics work out offering them to monthly subscribers.

You're actually collecting more from me in the long run than you would if I paid for an annual membership, so I'm not sure I follow you on this. Look, I'd pay for an annual membership if I could, but it's more reasonable for me to pay the small monthly fee than shell out that much at once for yearly.

This kind of comes across as a ploy to get people to go ahead and pay you for a year in advance to make up the costs of rolling this out. I get that, but it's an investment like anything else. If you make this service available to monthly subscribers you'll see a boost there as well, and eventually you make out just as good.

Really feel like we're getting the shaft here.

Obviously, because monthly subscribers can cancel at any time so naturally you have more subscribers cancelling before paying for a full year than annual subscribers.

That doesn't account for those of us (like myself) who have been members for over a year on a monthly plan. I know you have to look at the big picture with things like this, but technically speaking, on an individual level, I'm worth more to you over the course of a year than an annual subscriber. I know that doesn't hold true across the board, as there are plenty of subscribers that I'm sure simply subscribe for a few months then drop it. But there's a lot of us long-term monthly subscribers that are getting left out in the cold on this.

I do appreciate you guys listening to our feedback.

  • How do I know if it's working? I signed up, but I would think I would've gotten a text by now on the Bennett injury.

We've unfortunately had some system glitches this morning that affected the text alerts. But yes, that is certainly the kind of thing that will be texted out in the future.
