*** Tomorrow is the big day

  • Well folks,

    Tomorrow is going to be a pretty big day for me. My daughter is scheduled to make her big debut at the hospital tomorrow morning. I'm excited, nervous, anxious, you name it.

    Needless to say, I'm planning to take some time away from the site in the coming days while my wife is in the hospital. I'll be popping in from time to time when I can. Being honest, I don't really know how much, because I don't really know what to expect. This is our first.

    My apologies for the timing. It certainly could have been better, and I do hate being away at such an exciting time of the year at UGA. However, I don't want anyone to worry about coverage for the start of practice. We're ready. There's a good plan in place, and the site won't miss a beat.

    First off, I've got preview stories that are already set to be published leading up to the first practice and team media day on Thursday. Meanwhile, Rusty will be in Athens on Thursday to field questions live from the Butts-Mehre and offer lots of photos for you guys. In addition, my good friend Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph has graciously agreed to pitch in for Dawgs247 while I'm away. He'll be handling practice reports (yes, there will be our usual practice reports) and coverage of the team for the opening days of fall practice.

    If everything goes as planned, my hope is to be back full-go at practices at some point this weekend.

    Thanks as always for being a part of our family at Dawgs247 -- a family that will grow by at least one very soon!

  • Many congrats, sir! Certainly try to savor every moment. This is one of the few times in this business where you can truly justify putting the cell phone away for awhile!

    Seth is an old colleague of mine from newspaper past. You don't have to worry about him putting you to shame, but he'll suffice. lol

  • My wife and I will be praying for the health of the baby and the mom, as well as emotional strength over the next couple of months. We have twin 4 yr old boys. They are worth every second, but they are a handful.

    BTW, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE buy and read On Becoming Baby Wise. That book prob saved the marriage. It will help her get on a schedule fast. My kids were sleeping 8 hrs through the night at 8 weeks and 12 hours by 6 months. Independently verified to have roughly 95% success rate for sleep schedule (slightly higher for girls). It deals with other things, but I can't stress the sleep thing enough. My aunt told me that my cousin didn't sleep through the night for first 2 years. Also, get gas drops ASAP!!!!!!
