Something to be on the lookout for: Today marks the beginning of our Top 20 for 2012 series, an annual countdown of the top 20 most important (not necessarily the best) players on Georgia's team for the coming year. We'll run one story per day for the next 20 days to count down the list.

Subjectively... John Jenkins. He is the difference maker between our 2011 and 2010 defense. And I do think that there is a difference when he is out there versus Kwame.
On offense, I say Kenarious Gates. If he can't handle the LT spot, you could possibly see all 5 spots on the offensive line get shuffled.

I may have not been clear enough with my pitch earlier.
It is a countdown of the Top 20 projected players on the team for the 2012 season. That is based on overall importance AND expected productivity.
So for instance, Mason may actually prove to be the most important player this year, but as it stands now, he's not going to be in this Top 20 because he's expected to redshirt and not be productive at all.

So your picking Ken Gates to finish as the most important player on offense. But your not sure he "can handle" the LT position? Hmmm

Most Important to us have a great year:
1. Murray
2. LT- Gates most likely
3. Marshall Morgan
4. Crowell- Need him to be a game-changer and reliable
5. Corey Moore- Will be counted on with Rambo out
6. RT- Theus most likely
7. Kwame- If he can take a big step, would be very tough on O's with him and Big John rotating or in together
8. C- Andrews or Burnette
9. Jordan Jenkins- If he can step up at OLB right away, our D will have zero weakness'
10. Colin Barber- With our D, field position battles will kill other teams if our P is good
11. Branden Smith- Needs to step up with Boykin gone
12. Mitchell- If he can play both ways and be good, would be a huge asset. Key in game 2
13. Arty Lynch/ Jay Rome
14. Swann- Will be key in game 2
15. Marlon Brown- If he steps his game up even more, will be tough task stopping all our weapons
