Richt says Ken Malcome walked into his office today and said he needed a fresh start in another program.

So Malcome is transferring as well.

Saw this coming. Might be best for him. Best of luck Boo

  • Obviously, most of Richt's interview is on these issues.

Door maybe not completely closed for Malcome ...

"If Ken came to me tomorrow and said 'Coach, I lost my mind. I want to compete here at Georgia,' I'd hug his neck and say come on," Richt said.

  • You can tell Richt is not terribly thrilled about all this, especially Malcome's decision.

Tells a story about David Pollack coming into his offense as a discouraged freshman who was hinting at leaving.

  • Marlon Brown and Christian Robinson expected to play Saturday, per Richt.

Rantavious Wooten (concussion) not expected to play and it also doesn't look good for Chris Burnette

  • One more note ... Malcolm Mitchell was held out today as a precaution after feeling his hamstring tighten

  • I'm all smiles at that news....only thing that would make it better is if you told me Tree was ready to go as well.

Not to be a downer, but know that Robinson himself said he wouldn't start and would get probably 15-20 plays. Just an FYI

  • Richt says of this latest attrition ...

"It's going to allow us to sign a full boat of recruits again, which will be a very positive thing if we bring in the right guys."

  • Sounds like music to my ears.
Now just win CMR, so we can get these quality guys.

  • More Richt on talented recruits coming into program and giving up patience ...

"They get into a situation where they get around other athletes like them, and now you've got to compete. Learning how to do that is very difficult sometimes. Some guys will see the mountain too high to climb and then decide to go somewhere else. And that's fine if that's what's going on. I want all these guys to get an opportunity to play and get their education. But there's value in fighting for your job."

  • Richt mentions Pollack coming into his office as a freshman wondering if he made a mistake ...

"Pollack is the most decorated player in the history of Georgia football, and he had those doubts too. It's hard. It's hard to all of a sudden compete at a level you've just never had to. It's not like the guys, they're not bad kids at all. It's just sometimes it comes as a shock to them, and instead of fighting, they chose to move on."

I just don't understand this. I know he's had a tough run due to his nagging injuries, but I can't see where he hopes to land that has a better opportunity for him, as far as the depth-chart goes.
