Best and Worst Florida Memory

  • Got this from our Florida Site

    What is yours?

  • Best Memory- My best memory is the 2004 victory, I wasn't around for 80's when we actually beat these sob's. That was the first Georgia-Florida game I went to and was sitting in the endzone where Fred Gibson caught a TD late to seal the game for us.

Worst Memory- Watching us get absolutely dogged 49-10 in 2008 when Urban called the TO's late to add insult to injury.

Same. I met fred a couple of nights before that game. 08 was the first time I've ever turned off a Georgia game. If I kept watching, I probably would have blown a gasket. Lol.

  • My best is 2007 when Knowshon broke out. I as well wasn't around for the 80's. I'll never forget the bench being emptied and UF stunned by it. If only Richt didn't apologize for it.

Worst....has to be my freshmen year of high school and first game I attended. We were undefeated going into JAX and had both Davids. We loss to a horrible UF team that year. I believe the year was 2002.

  • Best: 1980 Hearing Larry Munson on the radio call Lindsey Scott's TD while driving to work and getting so excited I punched the interior light on the top of the car and broke it.

Worst: Having to work with all these Floridiot Gaytor fans in Northeast GA.

  • 2007 is my favorite one by far! We owned a group of Florida fans in cornhole and flip cup tailgating.then got to watch the stafford, massaquoi, Moreno show! Marcus Howard too. Worst the very next year getting beat down and having about six turd fans right behind us talking smack the whole game! In the alumni section too

  • Easily 2007, my seat was right on the dividing line, i was housed and every time we did anything I stood in my seat and did the chomp toward the Florida side of the stadium( literally two seats over). I remember thinking when we were up 12 with a couple minutes left that they would still beat us. We laid on the horn the entire drive back to St. Simons that night, amazing!!!

  • Best was 1997. I was dogging Bobo that season. He made me eat my words and take another look after that.

Worst was 2008. In hindsight, it feels like we didn't throw a route to a WR shorter than 15 yards. We kept taking shot after shot downfield. Football 101 on how to make a shaky defense (our own) look worse than we really were.

  • Best: 2007 Watching Knowshon tear apart Florida's defense.

Worst: 2009 We came out in those ridiculous uniforms and I knew we were beat right then and there.

  • best was 1997. We werent supposed to be on the field with those guys and we whipped them.
worst was 2002. That was the worst game that we played all year, and sure handed Terrence dropped the ball.

  • Best 97- 20 pt underdog and Bobo went off in 2nd half. Robert Edwards going down sideline in 4th was a thing of beauty.

Worst 92- Coming back to make it 26-24 to give up a 3rd and long not to get the ball back late in the game.

  • Best for me was the win in 1997. This was my first trip post Redcoat Band, which meant I stayed in Jax with my best college buds and it was the first win over Florida I had witnessed. I had tears in my eyes as the clock ran down. I still remember the feeling of swaying back and forth in those crazy temporary stands made of scaffolding.

The worst was the 1994 game at the swamp in the pouring rain and the long bus ride back to St. Augustine.

  • Best was 2007. The worst was 2002 watching Gus Scott int a Shockley pass and take it for 6! That game still haunts this program and is the reason CMR doesn't have a MNC

  • Growing up on St Simons, I've been going to this game my entire life and is one of my favorite weekends of the year.

Best: Has to be 1980. Was a young Dawg sitting in that corner endzone with my parents. Back then the Gator Bowl was a true dump and as a little boy I thought the stadium was going to fall down around us. We didn't miss another game that season, driving dad's Oldsmobile all over the South and ending up in New Orleans.

Worst: 1993 for me. That was my final year as a student at UGA. We had not had much to cheer about during the dark days of Goff but a group of us die hards braved the torrential rains that day only to have our hearts broken by what we thought was a phantom time out by a Gator CB that prevented the game tying TD. Soaking wet, drunk, and pissed off from losing another one to the Gators was not the way I imagined ending my Cocktail Party career as an undergrad.
