Bowl selection blog (Updated Sun 5:10 p.m.)

Like I said in another thread - essentially the way things are set up, teams that don't win their division are getting a "first round bye." Florida is going to a BCS bowl because they didn't win their division. If Georgia doesn't play an extra game, we're going to the Sugar and they're not. Unfair to the winners. Built in advantage to the losers. And yes, I know it benefited us in 2007, but the fact remains it's wrong.
Here's the REALLY crappy part. If the 4-game playoff system had been in effect this year, UF would go to the playoff and we wouldn't.

I know -still sucks to bet penalized for finishing #2 in your conference and teams that didn’t qualify for the Championship game get the nod over you -a team you beat.

That is a better match up but we still beat these guys with little trouble.

We were in the arena battling for the NC.
We're penalized because we failed to win our game.
Florida deserves a BCS bowl even more than we do. 4 quality wins and 1 tight loss vs 1 quality win and 1 tight loss/1 blow out loss.

Resume < on field results. We beat Florida. We won the division. We were ranked ahead of the Gators for a reason. Florida's not going to the Sugar Bowl because they deserve it more than we do - they're going because the system is flawed in that it rewards teams that don't win the division.

Agreed with this.
The problem is not Florida going over us - the problem is the "two teams from one conference" rule. Northern Illinois getting blown out by FSU - who wants to watch that?
If a team goes to the MNC, then it's conference should still be able to send two teams between the 4 other bowls (Orange, Sugar, Rose, Fiesta) if they are good enough. Then both us and UF would go to a BCS bowl.

On another note - I hope for Cotton vs Oklahoma rather than Cap One vs Nebraska.
EDIT - Oh well, at least we'll win.

Chick-fil-A: LSU vs. Clemson
Sucks for LSU, but it was going to happen to somebody who didn't deserve it. That's a pretty intriguing matchup with Clemson, though.
