ATHENS, Ga. -- Injury luck has turned, and UGA's offense is now down its leading receiver.
Sophomore Michael Bennett tore the anterior cruciate ligament on the final play of practice Tuesday and will miss the rest of the 2012 season, according to UGA.
"The very last rep of the day he was engaged in a block and was just working," Mark Richt said Wednesday morning. "... No one ran into him or rolled into him or anything like that. His knee buckled, and there it was."
Bennett is set to undergo reconstructive surgery in the near future, per sports medicine director Ron Courson.
To this point in the season, Bennett had 24 catches for 345 yards. He caught two touchdowns this past weekend against Tennessee.
Clearly not the best morning on the old network technically.
Our previous breaking news post from a couple of hours ago on Bennett has disappeared for some reason.
So this is a repost just to make sure it's on here ...

For those of you who posted on the original pinned Bennett post from a couple of hours ago (and there were many of you), I apologize that it's not on here anymore. I have no idea why it just disappeared randomly, but I so know our tech people are doing the best they can to get all this resolved.
This HURTS!!! Wish him a full an speedy recovery!!
DAYUM. Hate it for the young man. Looks like Mitchell is going to be on offense from here on out.
I've got stories ready to go with more on Bennett's injury and what it might will mean for Georgia when the tech guys get the bugs worked out in the network today and stories can be posted. Hopefully, it will be soon.
Rusty also has a recruiting update ready.
So sit tight. We're going to be back running shortly and offer the coverage you're used to seeing.
The original post is back up FYI
