I made a post on here about how I thought there was a clear bias from 247 towards Bama...I just read that Shanon Terry, the founder of 247 is a Bama guy. Is that correct? If so, that would explain a lot. Thanks.
yes, that's correct
I think WE put out more stuff on Bama than ANY staff in the country could ever hope to, just one man's opinion.
Well then, I think it is very clear why I was suspicious about a bias. Listen, I don't blame him, as if I had a site, you better believe UGA commits and targets would be bumped up, but just happy to know I was not seeing something that is not there.
But we got Rusty and Gentry! So we win!
While he may be a Bama fan I believe I remember reading an article from another organization where it stated how he has no involvement on the evaluation of prospects as he is too busy growing and running his company.
It is unfortunate that you feel there is a bias towards Alabama. I am the CEO of 247Sports and also one of the co-owners of BamaOnLine. I have been transparent about that from the beginning of my start with Rivals.
I don't have anything to do with the rankings process and do everything in my power to hire the most talented people and professionals to run the various divisions of 247Sports and the recruiting sites. I have proven that by going out and hiring Gentry (who i feel is the best college team beat reporter in college sports) and Rusty who is as connected as anyone in our business.
Also, I plucked J.C. Shurtburtt and Gerry Hamilton away from ESPN to run and manage our recruiting and rankings division of the company. To call 247Sports bias is to also question the integrity of J.C. and Gerry, and they take their job very serious. They would be the first to tell you that there is absolutely no bias in our company.
I understand that this will likely always persist because it is very easy to make an association because I own the Alabama site and yes, I do pull for Alabama on Saturdays. However, I am so removed from that aspect of the business it would be almost impossible for me to influence recruiting rankings etc.

Rick Neuhiesel called him out on Arute's show. Terry had no come back. I remember back on rivals if a guy had Bama interest and committed to Auburn, his ratings would drop.
These sites pander to the larger fan bases.

But this site easily has the best writers and rankings of any of them...
Larger fanbases bring in more revenue. Its only natural that they would...
I do not influence our recruiting experts in any way and never had. We are a fairly big, small company and there's no way I could keep the talent I have on staff If I in any way meddled in the rankings process. I've hired the best and let them do their job. Our staff is well represented by many schools -- don't believe there's a bias.
