There was this statement released just now on UGA's Twitter feed ...
Jere Morehead, senior vice president for Academic Affairs and provost at UGA, has been named finalist for the UGA presidency.
And that's all it said. So I guess it's unclear how many more finalists there will be.
But as for Morehead, he's been a long-time UGA employee and is very well-known around the University. Now I'm assuming when I say this, but I can't imagine he would shake up much from the current structure should he follow Adams.

Not a fan of Morehead. Don't envision him being good at fundraising. Pretty predictable of us to go in-house given the current economic environment. Whatever.
Life's tough, but it is tougher if you're stupid.
An Adams handpicked successor... Hmmmm.. Interesting..
Here's the optmistic spin.
Moorehead is a UGA guy. He got his law degree here. He was a part of the faculty as early as 1986 (way before Adams).
Adams' sole connection to the University from where i sit was that he had neices attend here. And he was hired because of his ability to dramatically improve the fundraising at a tiny college in KY.
I don't pretend to know the guys at the top. But I love the fact that we have a UGA guy coming to the forefront.
