Since it is technically the off season, I thought it might be fun discussion to see who everyone thinks would/should be on the "All-Time UGA" starting roster. I have a feeling that this topic may show some generational bias, but that makes for better discussion, right? Anyway, I am going to break it down similarly to how an AA or ASEC team is selected, with all OL/DL lumped together, regardless of whether or not they play OT, OG, C, DE, DT etc. My defensive base will also be a 4-3, since that is what UGA has traditionally run. Here are my selections
QB: David Greene
RB: Charlie Trippi
RB: Herschel Walker
OL: Harry Babcock
OL: Chris Terry
OL: Bernard Williams
OL: Matt Stinchcomb
OL: Jonas Jennings
TE: Randy McMichael
WR: AJ Green
WR: Lindsay Scott
Honorable Mention: Eric Zier, Garrison Hearst, Mack Strong, Richard Appleby, Charlie Wittemore, Brice Hunter, Hines Ward, Terrence Edwards, Andre Hastings, Jon Stinchcomb, George Foster, Clint Boling
DL: David Pollack
DL: Charles Grant
DL: Bill Stanfill
DL: Richard Seymour
LB: Rennie Curran
LB: Ben Zambiasi
LB: Knox Cullpepper
DB: Champ Bailey
DB: Jake Scott
DB: Scott Woerner
DB: Terry Hoage
Honorable Mention: Jimmie Payne, Freddie Gilbert, Richard Tardits, Marcus Stroud, Quinton Moses, Jeff Hipp, Boss Bailey, Greg Bright, Odell Thurman, Kendrell Bell, Randall Godfrey, Mo Lewis, Thomas Davis
KR: Brandon Boykin
PR: Buzy Rosenberg
K: Billy Bennett
P: Drew Butler
Honorable Mention: Lindsay Scott, Damien Gary, Scott Woerner, Kevin Butler, John Kasey, Chip Andrews, Spike Jones
I'm sure that there are some folks I've forgotten, so input is always welcome. I am also interested to see who you guys would 'vote' onto the All UGA team. Hopefully this will bring back some fond memories and create some lively discussion. Go Dawgs and GATA!!

I like your picks. I personally would have Boss Bailey as HM for defense, fringe "starter". His Jr and Sr year were two of my favorite during my lifetime.
Meant to have him in there- actually had him as a starter until I thought about Knox Cullpepper... Gonna edit that right now. Thanks DLD.
I was at that game and remember it well. It looked like he was about to jump out of the stadium. Will Witherspoon was another guy that just fell short of the HM list- he made a game-saving pass deflection against LSU, where he came out of nowhere and got some serious elevation to bat it down. Great memories...
Nice, DP. Fran was a close 2nd in my QB race, FWIW. However, all-time winningest QB in NCAA history has to count for something, right? I'll add Patton to my HM list, too. So many great Dawgs, its hard to remember all of them!
Not bad kid..
Just some names that were omitted by posters...
Ray Donaldson-Best center ever at UGA.
Nat Hudson-OL-Jacobs winner for best blocker in SEC
Jeff Sanchez-one of best DB's I ever saw although he was a JUCO transfer
Ny biggest gripe with your list Pound is Sadowski and Boss
Anybody remember Slyvester Boler?
How could I forget Donaldson and Kay????
We ain't gettin' any younger Bully:-)
LOL. I know that's right!
Donaldson was in consideration, but I just took the top 5 OL, IMO, regardless of position. If it were just OC, I would have probably given it to Donaldson, with HM going to Fernando Velasco, Dustin Luckie, Ben Jones and Jack Swann...
Just realized I forgot Bobby Walden and Chris Carpenter as Punters..
I'm a little younger than most on here, did not really start following UGA until 2002 in 9th grade. A few guys who I would mention for honorable mention: Brandon Cotou (sp) could drill the ball, if we had fullback for the team J.T. Wall, Southerland.
Seldom Seen Dawg
Aj shouldn't be ahead of t. Edwards
Catfish should be ahead of both of them, imo.
Not stat wise. which is what you have to base things off of when you are making ALL-TIME teams list. Talent wise.. yes. Production wise. not even close. i'll take production over talent anyday.
he also played in a different era. Longer seasons, more games. Heck no body would throw it towards champ. So that debate doesn't stand up either. The WR position is so stat driven as well. Talent wise AJ is the 2nd best WR i have ever seen in the NCAA. But TE holds pretty much all the receiving records at UGA if im right. Not taking anything from AJ at all.

Did he land in or out of the state when he came out of orbit? I got the opportunity to play high school football with both Champ and Boss and they were incredible atheletes for sure!
guy mcentyre(sp?) pulling guard for hw. clarence kay, te, honorable mention
