Some of you know who I am and know when i do post something it is not just blowing smoke. I did not want to say this until after signing day. I have had the opportunity to work with a dad who's son was one of the more heavily recruited players in the country this year. I talk to him every day. His son signed with Alabama on Wednesday. The family has been life long UGA fans. He says that there is just no way to describe the difference between UA recruiting and everybody else. He says it is light years in difference. How do we catch up? Even as much as the packet that is sent to the signees to sign. Everything is "the best". I think the main goal is to win and the recruiting will take care of it's self, but to hear first hand how there is just NOBODY even close is disappointing. I am not a Disney Dawg or a negative Nellie. I am a realist. Somehow it has to get better. We should be turning kids away as well. We should not turn them away in an unethical manner like UA, but we should not be scrambling at signing day.
They throw more money, resources and personnel at it than anybody else. Plain and simple. We need the best and brightest at every level all the way down the marketing and campus hosts. It's called details. People notice 1st class when they see it.
That's what the dad said. He said Georgia, LSU, UF, and everybody else were first class and great, but UA was beyond anything they could have ever expected. That's what we need.
I just hope for this young man that he is not used and discarded like many others in Sabans tenure. No way I would ever let any of my sons play for that type of program. I do agree that we have to spend more money and improve greatly on who we have in the trenches and the support group as well as making sure every part of our facility is top notch. Note: Look at the quality kids we got with only 19 signees....top 6...top 10!
If Georgia continues to win, our program will look more appealing to most of the kids out there.
Question: what does this "dad" think about how some of the recruits were treated this year (run off) much like previous years. I hope that his kid is a top notch player and STAYS HEALTHY! I am sorry But Saban and some of the other coaches make me sick!
This is MrGarity's job. I'm a fan (of McGarity's), but that has a "shelf life". Regardless, I know for a fact that McGarity is a monster upgrade over Evans for more reasons than you care to hear - some you would know, others you would not. On this particular issue I am "an insider".
Thanks Bake. Couldn't have said it better. AND all of the luck and joys to the young man the OP is referring to.
^^^this. That is the difference $$$$. BAMA is lightyears ahead cause they throw so much money at their football program without limitations. Mal Moore has the green light....plain and simple.
Alabama does not spend the most on recruiting in the SEC. You just do not get it.There are coaches who are just abvove other coaches. With Coach Saban the facilities, the fan base, this program is going to be on top for a long time.He is not going anywhere. You can talk that crap about discarding players it does not work, top recruits are lining to get in this program.Look what is going on in your own program just this week.Having top recruiting classes does not get you a national championship. It takes more.It takes what the University of Alabama has.
Wasnt necessarily referring to just recruiting.....
you're right... auburn spends more than bama.... and the two of them both spend about 10 million more than the rest of the schools in the sec.
If your a lifelong uga fan and so is your family then you go to uga.
the family was. the boy wasn't. if you knew him you, would understand why. Let me remind you, the dad was not saying that any other team recruited his son badlly, he was just saying how much of a different level UA went as compared to all of the other teams. This kid was a high school all american too, so everyone went all out for him. he did say his favorite stadium experience was baton rouge though.
Well details what was so mind blowing?
The dad said the attention to every detail seemed to be at a much higher level. Beyond what could be expected.
I wonder what's going to happen when Bama can't use the forty people they have in the recruiting department. Those numbers for support staff are supposed to begin being limited next year I thought McGarity said?
Life's tough, but it is tougher if you're stupid.
that is the big advantage i think. People behind the scenes with one simple job. instead of smaller staffs with more responsibilities.
You know the NCAA says how many coaches we can have, I think they should tell everyone how many everything they have recruiting facilitators etc. And then maybe they will get onto the oversigining abusers as well.
Didn't some schools offer four year schollies this time? I thought Michigan might have? I'm sure OSU and Meyer didn't do that.
I believe UGA could compete with us if they had a change at the head coaching position. They have a quality program, but are unable to compete for championships due to Richt. Don't shoot the messenger, but CMR has been at UGA for 10 years and has not had near the success CNS has.
With any championship team you have a bit of luck always. Even bama had luck on their side this year. Don't forget richts 02 team went 12-1 and finished number 2 only missing the bcs bc Miami and osu were both undefeated. In 05 if dj shockly isn't injured and misses the Florida game that season would've been totally diff. Then we all remember how 07 ended. Kentucky had Tennessee beat and let it go in overtime. Tenn played in the seccg by tie break over Georgia which finished number 2 again. The only thing separating richt is that bit of luck.
CMR is not a win at any co$t coach like CNS. Take the two kids that were told that they could not sign this year due to injury, (the running back from atl that ended up signing at KY and then the kid from Mobile that played on the DL, he had to sign with Arkansas instead of BAMA and was told the same thing, that's probably how they found that late scolly for Dalvin Tomlinson the DL out of Henry County.) This kind of thing does not go on under CMR, but it sure seems to be just fine at ALABAMA! http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/2012/02/01/justin-taylor-safely-signed-with-kentucky-speaks-candidly-on-alabama/

Sure, the kid was offered a scholarship. He was just asked to start a semester late due to injury and numbers. Didn't work out too bad for guys like John Parker Wilson, who was our starter for several years. Truth be told, we took the top RB from AL and GA this year. The part you'll will not hear, is maybe the guy saw what was coming in and decided a switch would be best. Only 11 guys play at one time.
Go pull for Bama you pussy...good night
Did UGA really put that much of an effort after we got a commit at his position so early on or was this during his Junior year that we did the all the courting? It was first come first get at that position and I believe your guy committed to Bama a week after we got the kid for our position.. The kid we got as you knows has been taught under the best teacher in the country.
I have no doubts Ala may have been more impressive at recruiting I just don't remember your guy even going on an official.
It's going to be fun watching their career's over the next 4 years though. We could have used your boy this year to be honest.
pretty sure best back in GA this year was Mike Davis who ended up at USC.
You can take nick satan and your fifty trophies we don't want him. Nobody cares if you won the mnc you should have never beenthere to start. That being said all this man worship going on down at the incest capitol of the world will come back and bite you one day. The man is a lying two faced stab you in the back, no morals, rule bending artist and to be honest he does not look so bad now that he is surrounded by the scum in tuscaloosa.
