yall are sleeping on steven nelson im telling you. he will make an impact before anyone else in this recruiting class. he is among the highest rated recruits so far and he is at a position of need in the 2013 class. would not be surprised at all if he is starting day one in 2013. Ramsey is definitely a big name but realistically he won't see the field at least until 2015
In 2013 our corners will be swann, mitchell, bowman (commings, smith are gone) the rest will be true freshman. Nelson being a juco transfer we are planning on him playing imediately. He will be far ahead of the true freshman. I seriously expect Nelson to either be starting at corner or nickel back.
I think Rico Johnson is a guy we look back at and say he was one of the top players in this class.
Assuming Mitchell, and Swann are at CB in 2013 you still think their is a good chance Nelson starts? Don't forget about Sheldon Dawson also. We have some nice talent at CB. I wouldn't expect us to need a newcomer to start at CB in 2013.
Now we might need a newcomer to start at safety in 2013. With Corey Moore, and little else. Maybe Tray Matthews? Maybe Shaquille Fluker? Maybe Bowman, or Dawson move to safety?
Regardless of if he starts or not I still think Nelson will see a fair amount of playing time in 2013. Yet I am not going to project him to possibly start over Mitchell, or Swann. I also think Dawson is gonna prove to be a very good CB. I think the recent departures have hurt us more at safety than CB. The depth isn't that bad at CB.
From a recruiting standpoint the only reason we target juco players is in the hope that they can make an imediate impact. He will only have 2 years of eligibility when he gets the UGA. We have heard how well Dawson is doing but if you are a top 4 corner in our rotation you are going to get serious playing time. I expect Nelson to be at least in the 2 deep if not beat out some. I expect Mitchell and Swann to be starting at corner and Nelson or Dawson to be starting in the Nickel
I watched some of Shaun McGee's youtube highlights, the kid is making play after play from the NG position. He's taking on the center and a guard on most of the plays he makes. Really love the take here. I think he is underrated especially considering his offer sheet and how hard Muschamp and co. evaluated him.
