Just getting word that Chester is still holding out hope of getting the needed paperwork so that he can attend UGA. Family members, friends and even strangers have all stepped up to lend a hand in trying to help get this resolved for Chester, so don't be surprised to hear great news in the next day or so where he is concerned.
Its really not that hard to get a proof of birth. Unless he never had one.
Come on now!!! Your pulling my leg.
Yea labs have a hard time with those cloning papers
GO DAWGS !!!!!!!!
SIC 'EM WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF !!!!!!!!!!!
He is keeping other options open as well, but family really trying to get birth cert. or bith records from hospital in Cali. From what I heard, mom was un aware of need for birth cert and never applied for one. Not sure if true or not, so they're trying to get doctor's and hospital records and get everything processed.
If he was born in this country. He would be able to contact the Vital records in which ever state he was born and they would have one on file. So like i stated it really isn't that hard. I recruited for the navy and had to get them from pretty much every state. The Ajc just stated he would sign with UCF. I believe CB will not be a dog. There is a reason he doesn't have a Birth Cert. Doesn't matter where his parents were born as long as he was born in the states he would be a citizen.
No matter what happens with Chester, he will always be a Dawg in my eyes. I will never forget hearing how emotional he got when he was offered by UGA. He is a kid that truly wanted to be in Athens.
He even had a tattoo of the date he commited. And we all Know that Tats truly mean a lot to a samoan
Surely his parents know the hospital where he was born. He could contact this hospital, they will have birth records. Take their record to the Vitals records office, and apply for a birth certificate. This may take some time. Hopefully he will wait to commit, until this is ironed out.
I would really would like to see him as a Dawg.
Seldom Seen Dawg
That is heartbreaking to know how bad he wanted it and to fall short by some damn red tape ( must be bammer red )
This is the route they are trying to take, but having to travel back to Cali is the problem for them/
They could fax off or mail out a consent form. I did it all the time. Something is truly fishy about this case. Heck, if i was still recruiting i would get it done for him.
Go help them out, you are right it should be easy, but you have to understand that yes Chester may have been born here, but lots of times families that may have immagration issues are afraid to go anywhere near immgration offices in fear it may shine light on another family member that truly is in the U.S. without any status.
Navy, I hear you, it is a peculiar case, but keep in mind Chester and his family, coming from the Samoan culture, beat to a different drum than most Americans and may not have had the insight and resources to address this situation in a timely manner.
I am very hopeful that this situation is correctable. Based on the articles I've read, you can tell Chester is a very sincere and deep individual, the kind of special guy that could create a lot of positive chemistry on a team - the kind of warrior with which you would like to go to battle in the trenches! (There is a reason why there is a disproportionate amount of Samoans playing in the NFL!!)
Let's all keep rootin' for big Chester!!
Would love to have him as a dawg. Just don't know the whole story. Even American somoans could join the military. Hope the get it figured out. I think if you wait and see him sign after NSD this story might have legs.
You're right, no rules saying a player must sign on NSD, so if indeed he doesn't sign and UGA doesn't sign a full class, I would think that they have been in communications and something is in the works.
I hope most Dawg fans keep in mind all the privacy Chester Brown's lost as this has played out.
Yes, I truly believe that there's something fishy in this case, but I also have to respect that this situation may be news to Chester himself, and that is sad to say the least. I couldn't imagine thinking that I may be American all my life and then finding out that I may not be. For a kid, that's got to feel terrible.
The Dawg-gone Podcast:
The perfect mix of eternal optimism and hatred for Georgia Tech. It's like real journalism, except not at all.
Several months ago my son, who is at UGA, said that there might be some issues regarding Brown's citizenship so this isn't something that just popped up. I hate it for him & hopefully he can get the necessary paperwork completed.
If there was a problem several months ago, it should have been resolved by now for sure. Something else going on here IMO. Some one at the school could have this done in a week , its not that hard.
My thoughts exactly if they knew this a months ago and it still hasnt been resolved I'll put my money on the fact that it won't and can not be resolved.
I think if it were as simple as getting a birth Certificate, that would already have been done. I believe it probably goes deeper than that. CMR said as much in explaining after his meeting with Chester, that it was decided by all parties concerned that he seek another offer. If it were only a matter of a birth certificate, the parents would have been able to obtain that, simply by contacting the Vital Records division of California and they told them how to obtain it. If there was a solution in the foreseeable future, the kid could just wait for the paper work to come.
I am not sure what is involved, but it is more than just a birth certificate. Like I said, UGA could hold a place open for him in the recruiting class if it were that simple.
