I would like to take a shot at that mule that a lot of members beat on. As fans we haven’t been given much news to cheer about lately. When things are going great it is easy to be a Dawg fan and cheer the team on. During times of adversity, though, a person’s true character shows. Example….It was very disheartening when we got the news that Brendan Douglas committed to the “G” and a few fans jumped on the kid, bashing his “star” rating. From what I’ve heard, he has been a huge Dawg fan all his life, and this is his dream school. I don’t know what this kid is going to do when he gets to Georgia, but there is not a doubt in my mind he is going to play with a lot of heart, and probably appreciate this scholarship more than most recruits. As fans we have to evaluate how we handle disappointment. There is no telling who is reading our comments on this board. We just discovered a few days ago that “st8cat” is in fact Brice Ramsey’s mom. What if Brendan, Brendan’s parents, or other Dawg recruits have Dawg247 accounts? What message are we sending these people??? To me the message is this: “If things don’t go our way, you are not getting our support”. As Dawg fans, we can’t help what an 18yr old kid decides to do. We, the fans, can’t go out and recruit, or coach a team to win the game on Saturday. Our job is simple: support our team during the good AND during the bad. Don’t be the Dawg fan who is a stumbling block, discouraging potential recruits who may have interest in the program. I agree with a lot of the comments on this site. There may not be many fireworks on Wednesday. What people seem to forget, though, is we have 30 verbal commits from kids who decided not to drag out the recruiting process. These kids have committed to the “G”. Our coaches have worked hard, our players play hard…We were 5yds from a Nation Championship this year. Regardless of who signs with us this Wednesday the team will be okay. I am now stepping down from my soapbox.
That is just a GREAT POST!! One of the best I have read in a while!!! While it does get frustrating... I just went back and looked at the EE's and the guys we have committed and it is pretty exciting to look at and think what potential we already have and what is on the way!! +1 Marine!
I agree. I wished G would delete the ones bashing the guy in case he reads it, or even better the ones who posted it erase it them self.
Great post from one MarineDog to another Marine_Dawg to another!
Great post and I agree wholeheartedly. I too have thought the same, but your post was articulated to summarize my sentiment. I've been a fan of this site for two years and just recently subscribed to view all post. Sometimes i second guess my subscription because of all the crying and whining. Lets take the info given like men and discuss in a mature way. The point about recruits or family members being on here should be enough to make you want to THINK before you TYPE ... Go dawgs and thanks g and rusty for your hard work that is what i am paying for!!!
