Who is the best player you have played against in high school or who is the best player you have seen play in person?
Me, played against some good ones. Best one was Ted Yarbrough of Early Co. RB that went to Aub and got shot in the leg. He was 6-2, 220 pounds in high school.
Best player I have seen play in person was Da'Rick Rogers or Takeo Spikes.( Not counting Nkemdiche or Reuben yet)

I played against Jeff Backus in football. Let's just say he got the better of me and don't get into any details.
Best I've seen in person was Matt Harpring in basketball. He was as clutch as they come (best in football was probably Backus. Patrick Pass maybe a distant second).

Mean, I forget that you and I were about the same time coming out of the Tucker area. I played against Harping in football, he was the QB for Marist. Very good player (nowhere near what he could do in hoops though)
I also saw Patrick Pass play against Marist in the playoffs the next year. They couldn't stop him.
Best I played against was George Lombard. Kid could FLY.
I saw a Harping and a group from Marist run Cedartown off the court one night at GT in playoffs.
Cedartown was loaded with athlete's but Harping and crew played as a team beat em pretty good.
Marist stopped Patrick Pass. He only got about 20 yards on them. But our other back ran for about 150 (the defense was keyed in on one guy and it cost them dearly). I can't remember the other back's name, though.
Pass had his share of good games, though.
Best player I played against was Teddy Craft from Hart county in 01-02. Best I seen play was Monte' Williams from commerce.
Football: Paul Oliver and Jon Abbate
Baseball: Nick Markakis and Corey Patterson
Champ Bailey was best player I've ever seen at the high school level.
Played against a guy named Duane Coleman in Naples who wound up at Clemson. He put up a 500+ yd (250 rush, 200 return, 50 rec) and 6 td game against us.
Toc: Do you have ties to Harrison High School? If you do I'm sorry. lol I'm a Mceachern Indian! Anyways, Jeff Francoeur was really good at baseball and football in high school. I played against him in football as a soph. in high school. I played with Gerald McRath at McEachern he was really good, went on to play at southern miss and win all everything there and now plays for the Titans. I also went to high school for 3 years before he transfered with Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks.
Best high schooler I played against was probably Ryan Williams who went to Virginia Tech and played for Stonewall Jackson here in Va. Drafted 2nd round by the Cardnials.
God needs a Safety on His team. RIP 21
I played at a small school, the best I ever went against was probably Brandon Barden from Lincoln County. He was the biggest QB I ever tried to bring down. He played TE at Vandy. Someone who is not as well known is Quayshon Simmons, LB from Wilkinson Co. who was the fastest defensive player I ever went against. The best I ever saw is Monte Williams from Commerce, the state's all time leading rusher. Would have loved to have seen him take advantage of his gift, but that doesn't always happen.
The Empire Strikes Back Like A GURLEY Man
Best high school player I ever played against was probably Elijah Williams RB at Milton, Florida played at UF. Great combination of size and speed. The best high school player I ever seen play was Danny Wuerffel Fort Walton Beach High School.
ONCE A DAWG, ALWAYS A DAWG, HOW SWEET IT IS!
I'm from Waycross. Fred Gibson was the best I saw play live, with DeAngelo Tyson a close second. The best I played against was a kid named Marcus Hunter from Fitzgerald. Solid D-I prospect at d-tackle, who couldn't keep his attitude straight long enough to stay on the field.
