I think so. Texas A&M is soaring to new heights under first year coach Sumlin and of course Hesiman winner Johnny Football. Being in the best conference, the SEC gives them a big push as well. Texas on the other hand is toiling in mediocrity, and seem stagnant under Mack Brown. The natives in Austin can't be happy with the current state of affairs.
Yes. A&M had the perfect storm come together at the right time for their success.
All it takes is one big year from the Longhorns and they will be right back on top in that state. Texas is THE school in that state and always will be. Agree though, they have been pitiful the last couple years, Mack has to get it together and soon.
I do think A&M is the better team right now, but I don't think the program has passed Texas. They are just on the wings of a superstar and they have much improved their program.
MB must improve rapidly. Texas has on of the largest pools of talent to choose from in Texas with much less competition from surrounding programs than we see, and much like Alabama, retain a lot of in state talent. MB, at least on paper, is not evaluating talent correctly, or not developing talent to their potential. Texas usually has one of the best recruiting classes in the nation. I think their program still owns the state, but they better turn it around in a hurry, because I think the Aggies have turned all of our heads. They are a program on the rise. It seems some of the recruits have noticed too.
Take this with a grain of salt. They make fun of just about everybody in this video. Reasons why Texas is the greatest state in the union. To be taken with a grain of salt.
Sorry, some of my guys showed me this the other day and I couldn't stop laughing. I think A&M has some work to do to distinguish itself as the big brother in that state, but they are well on their way.
Yes. Now all that Texas talent can play in the best conference in the land and stay close to home.
A&M is currently better, but Texas is still and always will be the Big Dog in that state.
Good question AK especially at where the 2 schools currently are. Texas IMO is and will always be the premier school. That's like GT having a couple of good seasons playing really well and people asking if GT is the premier school. Even when Ray Goff was struggling at UGA and Bobby Ross had GT playing their best ball they were not the premier school.
Johnny Football said it himself "I dreamed of playing at Texas." Most of the A&M kids from Texas I can guarantee did the hook'em horns stuff growing up.
Mac IMO is on borrowed time. Texas can look at UGA and see CMR went from 6-7 2 years ago to 5 yards short of the Nat. Title game. Can they pull Muschamp from Fl now? Who would they get? Texas is a premier school to be at so they will get who they want IMO.
They will need more than 1 year to pass Texas.
What happens next year when the OL leaves and Manziel is running for his life and losing to Bama, LSU and Ole Miss?
Texas is still the big dog there and if Mack keeps losing to Oklahoma, he will be gone.
Art Schlichter's cellmates and Mo Clarett's rugby team believe Ohio State always does things honestly.....
You just made his whole argument for him. Those are the numbers from when just MB has been there and those are A&M's all time stats. Mack Brown has done more with his tenure than the entire history of the A&M program. Therefore, him saying that it will take more than one year to put A&M perceptually ahead of UT in the state of Texas would be correct. You just did all of the legwork in research for him. He's correct, it will take A&M more than one year to become "big brother" in that state. Period. Think you may have responded to the wrong post.
