Kalvarez Bessent went from a 90 to a 97 after committing to Alabama. I'm pretty sure someone made a thread about this already, but can someone tell me how thats possible?
Haven't you heard? Bama gets all 5 stars. AJ McCarron was a 5 star.
One honest question ...
If this was a boost for a commitment for any other school in the SEC (and that really does happen all the time in our rankings) -- INCLUDING GEORGIA -- would it get mentioned here?

But when Rico got his bump last summer from a 2* to a 4* when he commited to Georgia it was ok!
a 90 to a 97 though is quite a significant bump...
that's not like a guy going from unranked to a first ranking.
and 97 for bessent is quite a stretch from every other site. its not like there was some new tape out there.
bumped to the #44 player in the country from outside the top 200.....

This was my question on the other thread as well. UGA is going balls to the wall for Watkins from Dallas, an admitted longshot to pull out of Texas, who is currently graded at a 93. While UGA certainly offered and I think would have accepted a commitment from Bessant, he doesn't appear to have been really pursued by UGA. Even though UGA knew they had no shot at Nkemdiche, they still pursued him as aggressively as they could. If Bessant is really a 97, then he is one of the top CBs, if not the top CB, in the country. Why wouldn't we be hearing the chatter on this and other sites that usually accompanies heavy pursuit by a prospect by UGA?
I swear you just read my mind. Allhailuga=wizard
I think everyone understands that but perception is that Every recruit that commits to Bama gets an automatic bump. That isn't just a Georgia perception but all across the nation, go to the blue board and it is accepted as factual. Is perception reality? I don't know, who is the biggest paying fanbase members in recruiting?
And this. Our guys may get bumps but don't become 5stars.
BUCK FAMA!!!! Lets move on.
Most of the bumps our guys got last year were insignificant, and guys that deserved them (Johnny O'Neal, Reggie Carter, Brandan Langley, etc) didnt get them... And for every time one of our players did get a bump, another would lose a point of two... I remember Langley losing a point, Kublanow went down a few... And a few others.
Show me another kid that got that kid of a bump after committing ? And I dont mean from a 82 to an 89 ...because compared to a 90 to a 97 that is insignificant because once you get higher it becomes harder and harder to go up.
Do you think Bessent deserves his 97 ranking?
You would expect a bump of 150+ spots into the top 50 to be the result of new info/video/camps....
Bessent's junior film has been available for a while now.
Its what got him his 90 rating. So the same film makes him a 97 now?
If he did he would've been their before the commitment.
Then you have a two choices then.
1) don't pay attention to star rankings on any player ever again because they are all misconstrued.
2) except that he deserves his ranking and move on with it.

I just want to know why it took a commitment to Alabama for the people here to raise his ranking. His film has been out, he's had offers, etc for a while now. Then he commits and boom, he shoots up. The timing is odd.
