Art Schlichter's cellmates and Mo Clarett's rugby team believe Ohio State always does things honestly.....
First off the only player who "deserves" to play is the one who the coaches think provides the best chance to win. That's it.
Now, that said, every team needs players who want more.
You hope those players know the proper way to channel their personal goals in a way that remains positive for the team.
Those quotes won't make the coaches happy. However, it's too bad a writer can't recognize these are not professionals and just cut the kid a break by not running with the story. This could seal his fate at UGA and he might one day regret making waves. I know, I know, this is Ken's making. But why not just write a story about something else???
Dawgs on Top!
He should be getting more chances to carry the rock. Gurley got tired near the end of the season and I see Ken as a good alternative running between the tackles. The kid runs hard every time he gets the ball. He needs more carries to into a rhythm. I hope he stays, gets his life together, and gets his degree. At this point in his life, the degree from UGA should be the carrot that keeps him motivated to stick with it.
The UGA staff is going to play the players that give the team the best chance to win. In this case, it was apparent they felt that Marshall and Gurley deserved and earned the majority of meaningful snaps during the season. As fans, we also expect the staff to bring in top tier talent every year especially at the RB position (we are RB U, remember?), thus keeping fierce competition for PT every year. Its unfortunate, but sometimes good players get buried on the depth chart. In a way, its a small barometer of the success of your program when good, solid, veteran football players are 3+ on the DC and decide to move on. Means you're bringing in top talent every year. JMHO.
