I was just talking with a friend, who alas is an UF fan, but we were both in agreement that Tubby Smith would likely be the perfect coach for UGA. Too bad he had to go through his stint at the pressure cooker that is UK, but I think UGA basketball would be in much better shape had he stayed. Just wondering how much effort it would take to bring him back if/when Fox is fired.

No. We need a recruiter who is all about the AAU circuit. Tubby hates AAU
Art Schlichter's cellmates and Mo Clarett's rugby team believe Ohio State always does things honestly.....
Tubby had Minn in the top ten at one point. If he can build a top ten team hating aau then that's even more reason to hire him to any program.
It it pretty much apparent that if you lay down with the AAU, you are going to get up with fleas, even though they may come with hardware.
Did you pay attention to the Gophers last 10-12 games....Tubby is DONE. He got that school into the top ten before the meat of his Big Ten schedule.....he beat a bad Mich St team early, and an unpredictable Indiana team at home late, otherwise he got run by Nebraska, Iowa, Purdue, and on and on.
He is done.....he has the best player in the country in 2014 in his backyard in Tyus Jones and doesn't have a prayer to land him.
For the record I hate aau but if you want players you better be all over it
especially in Georgia
Which is why UGA is going to have to risk Harrick part 2 to be moderately successful in basketball again.
Bruce Pearl is the hire that would put us on the map.....great recruiter, better coach. It's a risk, with high reward potential.
I'd go for it.
Just don't let him have any barbecues at his house. That's what cooked him with the NCAA
I'm afraid Mark Fox's legacy is going to be "what might have been" if KCP bolts for the NBA.
Bruce Pearl's style of play would sure be an energizer that's for sure but the slimeball factor might not mesh well with McGarity.
