why do u guys think we fell short? lack of coaching them up? effort?( for fear of injury before the draft). or just poor execution? i guess im still trying to figure out how we went from second best in the SEC to last with the experience they had! rusty and Gentry feel free to chime in!

I feel like we got into a bad habit of playing the nickel defense more than we needed to. Because we only had three linebackers on the field, teams took advantage of the gaps that opened up, and there was one less bigger body to face once they got to the second level.
It is quite a bit puzzling. I thought if anything teams would be able to pass on us more than they could wrong but I'm not sure if UGA's run defense was much better last year. Every good team they went up against like LSU and S. Carolina for example they got gashed. LSU was due mostly to depth issues and S. Carolina was more due to Marcus Lattimore being a manchild but still no excuses to get pounded on the ground with all that talent.
How does anyone explain Kentucky pounding us on the ground like they did?
I hear a lot of other teams call our players "soft" I used to call BS but maybe its true. I'm not sure how to make your players "hard" but I think that would help. Talent is certainly not the issue. It has to be coaching and scheme.
AT least against Bama, I saw the Ol baiting JJ upfield quite often, and he always took the bait, rather than staying in his lane.
Jarvis is a heck of a pass rusher but was suspect against the run.
