how did he even get a scholarship?
He is a stand still jump shooter. The problem with his shots is they were on the move.
We thought he was going to be a three-point specialist. LSU offered him too. He turned out to be a below average guard who is a streaky and wildly inconsistent shooter. Other than occasionally getting hot he does nothing well. His release point is far too low and Fox should have seen the mechanical issues with his shot IMO.
Our personnel decisions are baffling. VW has no business running the point on an SEC basketball team. Fox is going to cost himself a job if he's not careful. He's too stubborn and needs to pull his head out of his proverbial ass before it's too late.
I realize he's a set shooter. That wasn't my point. My point was he should NEVER be taking eight three pointers in a closely-contested game against a top 15 team. That's an insanely high number of outside shots for a bit player. Maybe half that. Maybe.
Hes not a good defender either. He can't drive to the basket. I truly think Fox is a good coach but if he doesn't recruit better he will not be around too much longer. The best players he has coached were from Feltons team. If we don't get guards who can shoot and drive to the basket and some kind of low post presence then its going to be a very long season.
It could be worse. The PG from Grinnell shot 71 three pointers tonight.
and only scored 139 points....
