Some of the most rampant rumors are trading for Kevin Gregg of Chicago, Joba Chamberlin on NY, and trading Chris Johnson for an upgrade at 3rd.
Not sure how I feel about the Johnson trade. I like him a lot, and it seems like he always gets a hit, but is he our 3B of the future with his less than stellar defensive ability? His trade value should be about as high as it ever will right now, so I don't know.
What do you guys predict we do?
Trade a bag of balls and a AA position player for a reliever. We shouldn't have to give up diddly to get a decent (3. 3-3.6 ERA) arm.
Sounds good to me man! When we get Beachy back we will be in great shape all around imo
Bundle B J with somebody and move him out. Never seen so many strikeouts with men on base. He must have pics of Fredi lol, dont know why he is in the lineup at all , Schafer is much better than him .
I definitely agree with you. He is way too sucky to be sucking up as much payroll as he is.
With that said, he won't lose a starting spot and they won't get rid of him either. You have to play the pieces you are dealt, no matter how much of an underachiever they are, when they are making that much money.
Competition breeds success. The Braves need to make CF an open competition to get the best out of B.J., but it won't happen.
Maholm could be dealt for a top reliever, but that looks less likely now that Beachy has no timetable for a return. Reed Johnson seems like the only legit Brave that could be traded. If Gattis were healthy, I would say McCann would get a bunch of interest from AL teams.
Man it sure would hurt to get rid of McCann but he has been average to slightly above average for a couple of seasons and we have 3 catchers on roster. If Gattis was fully healthy or had a timetable for return I think we would put some feelers out on value for McCann. Who knows right now though? Laird isn't bad at all.
The bottom line is we need to make a move for a middle reliever or two. Alex Wood isn't producing much and neither is Gearrin. It wouldn't hurt to move one or both of them for top relievers. I don't see a reason to trade C. Johnson. You can't trade Uggla or BJ because of money. We are stuck in those regards.
Why do I keep hearing people suggesting a Chris Johnson trade? Chris Johnson has been the most consistent hitter in the lineup, and there's just NOT an "upgrade" out there from him. He's the most underrated player on this ball club.
That's what I'm saying. I have seen it mentioned a lot on the rumor sites so I threw it in my first post. The only thing I can think is that the pundits think his trade value is as high as it will ever be, and he will only go down from here. That's the only thing I can think of!
Wood's role is mop up. Producing isn't really the issue, he's really just getting meaningless innings for the most part. You don't have to give a bullpen arm to get one. We could send someone 250k and a AA pitcher.
Art Schlichter's cellmates and Mo Clarett's rugby team believe Ohio State always does things honestly.....
Not gonna lie, I like that idea! lol
I meant move them to AAA. Not trade
would have to disagree with Alex Wood not producing
In 15.2 innings he has 21 Ko's vs 7 BB - an ERA of 2.87 - and a WHIP of 1.21
while he is no Kimbrel - lots of teams would be dying for a reliver with the above #'s
Bundle with Uggla and find a sucker!!!!
His best stats are in mop up time. When he has pitched in close games, it hasn't been a good thing.
