Cut through the BS, can we win?

  • I think our defense can keep us in the game, but I worry about the size of their OL pushing us around some.

Special teams is where they have a big plus imo. Their kick off team is flat out nasty.

I think with Crowell playing our offense will move the ball some if we can run early (1st qtr)

Worry about our young WR's against their DB's.

Going to be very tough game, but I am going and I will be cheering my lungs out!

  • I feel good about the defense if Deangelo can go, if he can't, it may be a problem with our rush defense. A lot of the teams that we have held to low yardage totals have tried unsuccessfully to get outside, LSU just lines up and rams it down your throat. We can slow it down, but I do expect to give up some yards. If we can get them in third and five or more, we'll get them off the field more often than not.
We have played better on special teams so I'll take it for granted (probably foolishly) that we'll be even there. I would like to see more of our horses on kickoff and punt coverage this week.
On offense, we are going to struggle to run the ball, period. If we have Samuel and Crowell at 100%, it will still be a challenge. Trent Richardson is no doubt better than any of our backs, and they held him to less than 100 on the ground. We can, however, try to get some quick stuff in the passing game to loosen them up, but the pass protect has to hold. To me, that means a lot of six and seven man protects. I think our WR's will play well, they are young (and LSU has GREAT CB's), but it's a scheme thing a that point. Any corner is going to get beat if a QB has time. Gotta have a great week of practice and hopefully Couson and the sports medicine staff can work up some miracles with Samuel, Crowell, and Tyson. Go Dawgs.

  • I personally think we have a great shot at winning. There are so many things in our favor. No one is expecting us to win, ESPN has made it a forgone conclusion that ala/lsu will play even with a loss to US. So LSU may not take us seriously. Our D will keep us in the game. I believe it will be a defensive battle but I believe we have better WRs than bama and more depth at RB. We have more experience at LB an our DBs are more experienced. If we protect Murray We WIN... Plain and simple

    Real Dawg

  • Our defense will be fine, but its safe to expect to give up 21 points. Our offense will struggle if it is forced to be one dimensional. I believe Crowell is our only back that can make something when nothing is there. Unfotunately if he can not go the FULL game, I believe our run game might be non existant. I truly believe Crowell's performance can decide the game either way.

Real, I agree with you about our WR's vs Bama, but we are nowhere near as good at RB. IC has the potential, but Richardson is better at this point in time. I love RS, but he is not as good as Lacy. Their third back was really impressive on a late TD vs Auburn and he is legit. I think Bama is better at RB and you don't need much depth with a beast like Richardson and a backup like Lacey .

That's a tough question. I don't think there's much doubt why we're the underdogs in this game. LSU has us outmanned.

We need to figure what the heck Dana Holgorsen did to have his QB put 460 yards of passing offense against them. Then copy it and hope we still don't lose by 26pts like WVU did.

I honestly think it all comes down to how we can influence the play of Jordan Jefferson. The QB position is their weakest link overall on the team and we need to take advantage of that. If we can get some mistakes out of Jefferson and some short fields while taking care of the ball on offense and special teams, we may be able to nip them in a nailbiter. If we can't influence Jefferson's play, I think we're unfortunately in for a rough day.

  • We absolutely can win. Have to run the ball and protect Murray. Game is on ol and Murray. D will get turnovers on jefferson.

  • rockonBobo needs to call alot of stop and goes, LSU is real aggresive, call some misdirection to take advantage, and WR's need to use the double moves to create space. Need to line up in I and when they load the box hit the fullback in the flat....................give something to think about then air it out ..................they are suckers for crossing patterns..........................play like Boise did against us short to intermediate passing then air it out....................I think we have an absolute good chance of winning if we come out focused and play to win....................Bama played not to lose and guess what that don't work against LSU................Aaron Murray needs to throw the ball 40 + times

I also think Crowell is the key. You have to have a running game to have a shot in this game. If Murray has to throw 40 times, we get blown out.

I disagree.................I am not talking about 40 bombs, I am talking about short to intermediate throws, kinda like what we saw against Tech....................I don't see us gaining alot on the ground....................Richardson, Lacy, and Fowler are far better than what we have in the back feild, but Murray and his recieving corp is alot better than what Bama feilded...............Murray averages 30 + a game anyways.........................the LSU secondary will give you some cushion and are so aggressive they will bite on play action and double moves................... I am saying this we have to take the fight to them if we let them dictate the game we have no shot.........I want to run the ball but if we get over 100 yards combined I will be happy..................Murray has to have a big day and Bobo can't be scared to loosen the reins and let him throw it.................we have nothing to lose by being aggressive, no one thinks we have a chance and I bet you they load the box............we need to dink and dunk with the short passing game and take shots when we have them or the D line of LSU will tee off on Murray.....see no use running 2 dives and draw for 3 and outs all day

  • Just beat LSU! I'm tired of them being on the tv! Go dawgs!!

    Blazerdawg

  • We just have to play a near flawless game. No fumbles or INT's PERIOD! The defense will be good but like jkt360 said, we will give up about 21. We can't depend on Murray passing all game. We need a run game and I think LSU is better on the DL than our OL. I like the idea of using their CB aggression against themselves by using stop and goes and crossing routes, but I don't see UGA changing any schemes for the game. Just hope we can protect Murray in the play action. We didn't stop Boise on this and I think LSU will be bringing quick blitz packages against us. Crowell doesn't need to run for over 100 yards, but needs some good runs to make LSU respect the running game and to be fooled in the play action. We just have to play our best ball. Just compete and play hard boys! If by chance we don't win...at least we won't be wearing some ugly purple and gold all day long! Go Dawgs!

    IBEWDAWG

  • I think it all comes down to if we can establish a running game and what Aaron Murray shows up.....if both are good then we have a shot...if either one doesn't pan out...then no bueno.....

    UGA83UGAx0

  • D will do well. We match up extremely well against their Offense. LSU is not spectacular at ALL on offense but they do extremely well on creating turnovers and STs. We don't turn it over and we win IMO. We can beat these guys just have to play a clean game.

The problem with a pass game without a run game vs a team like LSU is LSU has DEPTH. Time of possession will be huge in this game IMO. That may work against Tech but not LSU. Also LSU's ends will have a field day vs. our tackles if we are one dimensional, and they are very, very fast. Our defense will be fine as long as we don't bring them back on the field every 3 plays as Murray is running for his life. Run game will be huge. It was the way Bama gained an edge on LSU, and I believe we have a back that can do that too. Crowell has the potential to be as good as Richardson if he can stay healthy enough to get the reps. Here are my keys to the game IMO...
    1. Isaiah Crowell able to go full game
    2. Bean vs LSU D-Line - LSU is fast and an injured ankle Anderson will have his hands full Saturday.
    3. Secondary - This is the group that will be succeptable to gimmick plays, it is on them to keep those plays out of the endzone. They are also going to have to stay disciplined as Jefferson has the ability to stretch plays out.

Inever said to pass without the run, we will have to run the ball some, but I just don't see us gaining more than 150 yards on the ground, and IMO it will likely be closer to 100, I like Crowell, I like Malcome but neither are the bruiser that TR is. All i am saying is I would not hang my hat on running the ball down their throats, it isn't gonna happen......gotta keep them guessing between run and pass............we need to run it enough to keep them honest, but if anybody thinks we can win the game by running they are delusional................Bama tried.......and they didn't do it and I will state it again their backfeild is alot better than ours. I hope the first time Jefferson takes off Ogletree knocks the sh*t out of him, I hope IC is 100% but here again we aint gonna beat LSU by running at the teeth of their defense...............we are gonna have to think outside of box somewhat if the run isn't effective, and if the run isn't effective PA won't be.........I am not worried at all of their passing game.............gimmick plays though I am scared to death of because we are playing against the mad hatter

That's right. Misdirection and playcalling against your tendency is the only way to keep their D honest.

IC will have to step up his game...if ever there was a time we needed a breakout game, this is it. I personally think IC has it in him and he will come thru...

I'm not predicating a win, but if we keep it close, I'll be happy to hang my hat on Walsh to redeem his subpar year...

  • i think we have a great chance i honestly do....we must limit two things thogh...

We must not give up big plays on Special Teams...Punt and Kick Off coverages must make solid plays and not give them good field position....we can not give them short field.

    and NO TURNOVERS!!
