    Thomas,

Thoughts on Ole Miss sudden rise? Kind smells a lot like Auburn's rise 3-4 years ago. I know its a nice school and all, but multiple 5 stars committed to Oxford raises an eyebrow just as much as a Louisiana kid committing to play at Auburn. Could there be something fishy brewing?

Not sure what to think about it. Hugh Freeze is a heck of a recruiter and has a heck of a staff. Anytime you get the No. 1 prospect in the country interested, you pick up a lot more interest from other top recruits.

FWIW, Tunsil seemed to not really care about Ole Miss' recruiting success recently. I don't think they're a serious player unless he's lining up a major signing day stunner and keeping it completely under wraps.

Well, I think I'm more concerned about something being done underneath the table with Tunsil. That's the only legitimate way I could see Tunsil not going to UGA/Bama.

Hard to blame you. If I were at LSU I would not like BIG BAD BAMA either

Here's my take on Tunsil from talking to him several times over the last few months. Keep in mind, I don't know how either coaching staff feels about where they stand for him, this is strictly my impression from talking to him.

He does like to keep it close to the vest, so it's very hard to glean anything. Every week, it's pulling teeth to try to get some reaction out of him. Very, very nice kid who just doesn't play the recruiting games other kids do. In a lot of ways, that's both refreshing and frustrating, for reporters and fans alike, I'm sure.

Up until today, I've always felt that he liked Alabama a little better. I've seen several places that Georgia was leading, but I just never really got that vibe at all from him. Not to say he was blown away with Alabama or super wowed by Nick Saban, I just got the subtle feeling if it ended that day, he'd be going to Alabama.

That said, today seemed a little different. He seemed a little looser talking about Georgia and just made it seem like he had more fun on this trip than any of the other ones, which have pretty much been all business as far as I could tell.

I have zero idea which way he's leaning at this point. But after today, I can see why some people think Georgia's leading. Many of you have said it already -- if he wants to have a little more fun in college, he probably picks Georgia. If he wants to have a better shot at winning titles and a great, proven path to the NFL, he probably picks Alabama.

I can't for the life of me tell you which one he's more likely to do. If I had to pick today, I'd put Georgia's chances ever-so-slightly higher than Alabama's, but that's the first time I'd have said that in the last three to four months.

That is fine other than your "GREAT PROVEN PATH TO THE NFL" comment. Nothing wrong with the path to the NFL via UGA. Check out the rosters for the 2 teams in the SuperBowl and do a head count. Do the same thing with the Pro Bowl. UGA is right there with Alabama in that department. The championships - yes that would be a point but not the NFL route., That is bogus.

  • Someone talked about the influence of BOL and that with 24/7 - looks like some of that is shining through in spots if you read between the lines on certain things...hmmmmm.

Agreed, as I've already said a few times in this thread. I screwed up, not sure what else you want me to say. lol

loves how ole miss is going paintballin after we did it...

but this article worries me a tad bit. it wasn't a standout for Georgia imo, he may indeed be playing things this close to the vest. he is a must and he knows what we are building here in Athens.

Saying it wasn't a stand-out visit might be a little precipitous. If you put on a stranger's glasses, your vision will be distorted, right? Then, if you put another set of lenses in front of the first set, how you see your surroundings is even more distorted. In such a situation, it would make little sense to claim that your surroundings have changed because you know that the multiple lenses have caused you to see differently. This story about how LT's went is no different. There are many "lenses" put before your eyes when you read this, or any, story. Here are a few distortions to consider:

    1. The "information condensation" lens: It was a long visit, but the story is only about 700 words long. A lot that went on got left out.
    2. The "telescope" lens: The author of the story was not present for all of the activities for the whole visit, so what he knows is, at best, partial and second-hand accounts of what went on.
    3. The "kaleidoscope": Fragments of information are assembled into one picture through a subjective process. Every writer struggles with the questions of what's most important, and of these important bits, how do I express them accurately, according to my personal vision of them, and within constraints of space?
    4. The "fun house" lens: Big? Small? Fat? Skinny? I'm not accusing the writer of toying with his audience, but he does write primarily for GatorBait. Mostly kidding about this one.

If any one of us had participated in the LT visit, we might report what went on completely differently.
