ESTES: Column -- Dawgs 'can't wait that late'

Georgia's SEC tournament defeat was a microcosm of the entire 2012-13 season. Looking ahead, there is now hope for next season. There are important questions and concerns too.

  • excellent analysis. couldn't have said it better-- in fact, would have said it a lot worse.

  • Good read G..We have one "Horse" and he's a throughbred..That said, unless Fox pulls a rabbit out of his hat on the recruiting trail, we haven't addressed next years needs..I like Fox, but if you can't recruit in Georgia you'd probably couldn't take a decent picture in Yellowstone.

  • Who do we have coming in? Do we have any open schollies where we could add a big man late for next year?

Art Schlichter's cellmates and Mo Clarett's rugby team believe Ohio State always does things honestly.....

A 5'9"-PG and a 6'3" SG..Mann, Gaines and hopefully KCP man those spots next year..
We need a Power forward or Big guy who can score..Marcus Thornton would have helped immensely, but he's had 3 knee surgeries..

Check the commit list, target list, etc ... It is linked to top of site. There should be one scholarship available for a big man in April. If KCP leaves, it would be two.

  • "The fans have to show up so we can recruit better players" - said no great coach ever.

How can I be expected to show up to a basketball game that I can't stand to even watch on TV? We play boring, terrible basketball. It's garbage. We have one good player.

Attendance follows winning, not the other way around.

  • One thing that doesn't get enough attention is Fox's total lack of concern for selling his program to students, fans, etc. He's not visible on campus and doesn't do the sort of things you need to do in order to resurrect a moribund program (albeit one with great potential). Ask any insider and they'll confirm. He's a very stubborn coach and his rotations this year cost us wins. But even worse than that is his lack of salesmanship and the apathy that has set in.

Speaking of which, can someone tell me what Greg McGarity has done since he arrived from Gainesville? Two of the three major men's sports are crap.

He needs to get his act together. Keeping Fox on isn't gonna cut it. And if we have the kind of season I THINK we're gonna have in baseball again, then he better act on that, too.

We need a COACH for basketball. Someone that's gonna get everyone excited, players AND fans. Not an unknown name from Nevada. And we use "Parker executive search firm" again to find a coach, then McGarity should be fired.
