My Final Duty Station

  • I just made it to my final duty station at Joint Base McGuire/Ft. Dix, NJ before I retire.2 years left before I reach that magical 30 years of service. Long drive from New Orleans to New Jersey. I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to be able to watch those Dawgs play. This is not SEC country.

First off congrats getting this close and THANK YOU for you service!

  • Thank you for your service MarineDog! And congratulations on being close to your 30 years and retirement. You should be well taken care of.

I don't know any UGA bars in Jersey but a couple great ones in NYC. The Pourhouse in midtown is filled with Dawgs come Saturdays in the fall.

    Thanks guys,

Any suggestions on how I view the games up here will be greatly appreciated. I don't think Comcast is going to carry all of those games; even with a game package.

Reach out to the good folks in Philly. Should only be about 35 miles away.
I'm positive someone over there can hook you up with a good spot or two to party and watch the games.

And Thank You. Good luck on the last 2 years.

I have about three more to go....not to 30, but 20. Not sure I could make it to 30. Got one year in Korea coming up and I'm not sure yet where the last two will be. Hope it's somewhere other than the middle of the Mojave desert..lol

  • Congrats and thanks for your service! My dad was born at Fort Dix and later served there after graduating from North GA. There's also a good group of Dawgs in the DC area that get together for games.

  • Thank you for your service. My best friend in the world, whom I've known my entire life is leaving for OCS in 4 weeks.

Anywhere from 3 weeks to a month. Hopefully it's my last time out that way. Last time I checked, the temperature was about 115F.

This^^^. We owe our freedom to all the men and women who sacrifice to keep our families safe from the evil that does exist in this world.

I'm out in Utah for the time being, and it's been in the 90's here. So I would imagine that the temp there would be in the 100's. I thought they stopped giving actual temp's after it reaches 100, after that it's just referred to as "Hot as $hit"!! hahaha

Good luck out there and for your sake...I hope it is indeed your final trip out that way.

  • thank you for all you have done and congratulations. my dad was stationed there and we lived in browns mills for two long years. GO DAWGS!

  • Congrats Devil Dog! I admire you being able to stay in that long. I made it 6 years. Now I always look back and realize if I would have stayed in I would be at the 17 year mark this Sept and oh so close to the retirement cut off. Again Congrats on your upcoming retirement and future endeavors. Semper Fi!

Thank you for your 28 years of service in the USMC, and best wishes to you for a safe final 2 remaining in your 30-year career. Your retirement will be well deserved!

I hope you can find a good place to watch the Dawgs play this year. I'm sure there are some Georgia fans somewhere around Ft. Dix with whom you can watch the games.

Take care, Devil Dawg, and may God Bless! All the best to you, Marine Dog!
