Notes: Dogs report for Outback Bowl

TAMPA, Fla. -- No academic causalities, per Richt ... Gilliard's run-in with a cow? ... Richt's beard? ... Murray at home ... And more from report day at the Outback Bowl.

  • It was great to read that neither academic concerns nor major injuries would seemingly keep UGA players from either making the trip, or from practicing and competing for playing time in the Outback Bowl game; certainly the antithesis of what we saw this time last year.

With all the expressed negativity on how Isaiah wouldn't make the grades to even be able to travel to Tampa, it was refreshing to see him prove the naysayers wrong!

Maybe he's turned his academic focus around and now being injury free, we'll see the true running back talent that IC possesses showcased in Tampa. Bring it on, Isaiah, and I hope you have focused, pre-game practices, and an outstanding, injury-free bowl game!

We'll need all the others, Butler, Gilliard, Lott, and Tyson, who had those nagging ankle injuries to heal up and be able to give near, if not give 100 % in the game!

With both Georgia and Michigan State coming off loses last year in their bowl games and looking on paper to be about equally matched opponents, for the winner of this Outback Bowl, it looks like it's gonna come down to who wants the win the most.

I just hope it's UGA! Let 's Go Dawgs, beat the Spartans, and get 2012 started off on a winning note!

  • If you consider the seemingly never ending circus that surrounds him, Crowell has managed to make it to the end of the season, be eligible and is showing some signs he may have grown up a bit this year. The team as a whole can take credit for that. I'm guessing having Jarvis Jones around has helped tremendously, too. A focused Crowell going into next season with Keith Marshall and quite possibly another quality back or two and next years offense may be on par with next year's (and this year's) defense. A bowl win would complete an 180 degree turn in one year.

My hope is that Orson, Bacarri and everyone else considering leaving early get in a room and decide that 2012 will be a championship year for UGA if they stay and they want to make it happen!
