OL- Who starts next season?

  • With most of our Senior attrition coming on the OL, along with our well-documented depth issues, what do you think the starting OL will be next season? My best guess would be something like this (barring injury, of course):
    LT: John Theus
    LG: Dallas Lee
    C: David Andrews
    RG: Chris Burnette
    RT: Kenarious Gates

  • Completely agree. Was talking about this last night with a friend. That will probably be our line up.

  • Second string:
    LT Watts
    LG Houston
    C ?
    RG H Long
    RT A Long

Reserves: Beard, Ward, Debell, Pyke (RS), Brown (RS), Young (RS) I love that Pyke, Brown, and Young will likely have an opportunity to redshirt and get nice and STRONG!!!

2013 class should have at least 2-3 STUDS: Kublanow, Hopefully Tunsil, then our choice of Seymour or Devine. Should have some depth after that huh boys!!!! rockon

  • Don't sleep on Kolton Houston at RT.......If he can get his eligibility situation ironed out, he'll be in the mix. I also think Watts Dantzler fits the RT mold better than Ken Gates simply because he's exponentially more athletic.

I don't like Houston at tackle but I agree about Watts. He could make a big move with a great offseason. He will get some PT at RT next year if we have any injuries at G or RT imo. Gates would slide inside and Dantzler or Long to RT imo. There will be a lot of development before next year with Dantzler though because this will be his first offseason of S&C and that will determine a lot.

I think the starting 5 could be decent-good, but there will be a deeper rotation. Houston, Dantzler, and Austin Long should be ready to play meaningful downs.

  • I believe Chris Burnette was recruited as a center and has the skills to be a good one. He is also battle tested and as cerebral as they come.

Dallas Lee was impressive before breaking his leg. Another year of slangin iron and proper nutrition should work wonders for Kenarious.

I believe John Theus is another Sturdivant that could be a four year starter. He has all the tools to play LT at a very high level.

RT seems to be dependent on some guys getting in the weight room, adding bulk and power and learning the system. My money is on DeBell....he is nasty and a fierce competitor. Watts could gain some playing time if he works on his body and his footwork.

  • Speaking of Sturdivant, where is he on coming back?

And you have 2 right guards in the original post.

Pretty sure he meant to put Gates as a RT.
