OT - Cancer recurrence

  • As many of you are aware, this past summer I received chemotherapy and radiation to treat bladder cancer. This was my second bout with this disease. In August I was given a clean bill of health. Just before Christmas I returned to my urologist for my three month cystoscopic follow-up exam. I received the results of that exam last week and found that my cancer had once again reoccurred. This is the third time, and since previous treatments have failed now it appears that my only option is complete bladder removal and reconstruction. I have an appointment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville February 1st for initial consultation at which time my options and candidacy for surgery and treatment will be discussed.

I am not looking for pity, but I know there are some of my fellow Dawg fans who would appreciate knowing and being kept up to date as I once again embark on this perilous journey. So if you don't see me posting quite as often this is why. All I ask for at this time is your kind thoughts and prayers.

Thanks to all in advance, 1eyedJack.

1eyed you are in my prayers. As I know our Lord only gives us what he knows we can handle and I know in my heart that He knows how strong your will and fight are. I will keep you on my mind every day as I pray for your recovery to beat this yet again and for the final time. May God shine his light on you as you walk through your journey and know this Dawg and many others are behind you all the way!! God bless you!!!

Sending some prayers upstairs for you 1eyed. Always enjoy your take on UGA and hate that bad things happen to good people. As some of our fellow Dawgs have said, you've overcome it not once, but twice before, so I have no doubt that you will beat it again. If you are ever down come on over to the familiar place, with familiar faces, and we will do our best to cheer you up. Good luck friend and we know you will come out on the other side squeaky clean.
