Best option downtown used to be porterhouse

I ate at Porterhouse last summer and loved it. If you do a search for downtown Athens restaurants you can find their site with a menu.

For a chain steakhouse, there's Longhorn in the Beechwood Shopping Center that I've enjoyed (less expensive than Porterhouse).

There's also an Outback and a Logan's Roadhouse.

Kroger

Don't think you can miss on it for a date. They also have very good seafood (the owners told me they used to own a seafood restaurant).

I also liked the bourbon chocalate chip prcan pie.

The National has an excellent steak when it is on offer.

For a reasonable price. Rafertys is pretty good

It has been in town for a few years now. It is downtown, but a few streets over from the main drag. It is co-owned by the owner/chef of 5 and 10. It has a Spanish-Mediterranean palette mostly, but like I said they do a good riff on the steak, and pretty much everything I have had there has been delicious. Love their brunch as well.
